if OU is 1:1 (which is essentially 100%), why did they post the odds for the other 11?

It's not a 100%, more like 50/50. If you bet $1 and win you get $1, if you lose you get nothing. For Texas or Neb if you bet $1 and win you get $2 back.
Many posters discount odds as just a way bookies "balance" thier bets, however, most of the true bettors are more than die-hard fans, betting is a full time vocation and they don't bet on the basis of school pride but on who they really think will win. I NEVER bet on OU football, I'm not objecitve, I think OU will go 14-0 and win the NC. In fact, after taking 9 hours of statistics at OU I don't bet at all.

soooo, the betting odds is 1:1.

you gotta clarify: 1:1 (or read as "one-to-one") is 100%... which IS the likelihood of our winning the big12/11.

just bustin' your chops.:D ;)

If you bet $1, you get back $1.90.

That is, you get your original $1 back, and then you get your $1 winnings, less the house's 10% vig.

From your post, I know YOU know this, but I wanted to clarify for those who might be less familiar with The Way The World Works.

I prefer blackjack, at least if you can find a 1 or 2 deck game that pays 3/2 on blackjacks. :)

Sometimes it depends on who the "book" is. ;) ;) ;)

Funny how going to the Big Ten makes your odds go up, while going to the Pac 10 keeps your odds incredibly low. Food for thought :D

If you put $1 on Iowa State you get a McChicken sandwich.

It's a new version of their Monopoly game. Funny... Iowa State replaced Baltic Avenue while OU is at Boardwalk :D

Same here. Too superstitious. (And I don't gamble. But even if I did, I wouldn't bet on OU. That would jinx it.)

It isn't gambling if it's OU for teh win. That's just stating the obvious.

Most books that I know of the loser pays the vig. So if you lose you pay $1.10. But there are all sorts of options out there.
