Thing that sucks for us is the kid hates OU. :(

Wow, way to go out on a limb. :P

Yeah, I wanted to insult him when I read that he hates OU. That's all I could really come up with. Running for almost 2,000 yards as a sophomore is kinda hard to insult...even if it is weak competition. I would have made a comment about being in 2A, but I didn't want everybody to jump on me and act like I don't know about Wes Welker.

The Consumate Showman

He could literally go anywhere: Taco Tech, Tenn, ND, USC, UCLA, Miami, Auburn...

I think he winds up a David Oku type of RB and recruit.

I really hate to see kids of this caliber leave the state. Oklahoma is known that well as producing lots of D1 football players so when they leave it really sucks

SoonerSoph
8/24/2010, 06:44 PM
I won't be surprised to see this come to UCLA and Florida... an odd pairing, but the kid loves UCLA and Florida is the "It" school to go to now. OSU will make the final choices based on his fandom (which subsequently keeps OU out of it), but he wants a more high profile place than OSU.

I would much rather him go to OSU than UCLA or Florida. I always like when Oklahoma kids stay in state. He can get the same NFL exposure at OSU, but kids don't always realize that. It's not like Florida is pumping out NFL running backs. Chris Johnson went to ECU for example.

barring injury, he'll probably be able to attend in school in the US.

as a JR in hs, he's already larger than his dad was as a SR.

looks like he has good speed & also good moves. hope he goes somewhere in OK; even if it's durant or tahlequah.

Who was the last great clloge player to have a son who was more than average? Gre Pruitt? Nope.Marcus Dupree? Nope.David Overstreet? Not really,he was an OK db for Missou.Walter Payton? Nope.I don't get too excited by legacy players, they aren't any more likely to be a stud than any other hs bluechip.

I watched Sanders a couple of times last year and he is OK.

texaspokieokie

BoulderSooner79
8/25/2010, 05:47 PM
That James Wilder Jr. looks like a real stud. His dad was also studly and was probably the biggest reason that Mizzou knocked off the huskers in '78 so that OU could get a 2nd crack them in the Orange bowl.

Don't I remember for some reason that the relationship between Barry Sanders and OSU is somewhat strained, and that Barry's dad wanted him to go to OU but there was a mixup with the recruiting tapes or something?

I guess what I'm getting at is that I don't think the normal "legacy" rules apply here.

Pat Jones said on the Sports Animal once that the coaches at that time were passing around recruiting videos between each other. However, when they got the Barry Sanders video, they held on to it, hid it, and pretended like they knew nothing about it. Can't say that I blame them actually. Therefore, Sanders probably didn't get as many offers as he obviously would have and he ended up at OSU. Too bad, he most likely would have had a title ring had he came to Norman to be on those late 80's teams.

Add Bama to the list. I have it on good authority that Nick Saban himself has called Barry Jr and made a verbal offer.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/alabama/football/recruiting/player-Barry-Sanders-91034

In the end I think he's a Poke, but you never know. Like Bob, Nick is a very good evaluator of talent and this kid obviously has something that he likes.

No, he's not.

Dream on aggie.

Barry, Sr. doesn't even like the fact that he went to aggieland. Barry's father is an OU fan, and I'll guarantee after watching Stoolwater implode this year and revert to the usual aggie, mediocre football, he'll look elsewhere. :)

Bc we are full of RB's! Always are.

Sabanball
8/29/2010, 10:05 PM
I have also heard that he does not like OU, but Bo Jackson didn't like Auburn at one point in time in HS and your own Rick Bryan(RIP) almost signed with the pokes so that alone doesn't mean anything. That being said, I still maintain that out-of-state schools still have Texas to beat for his services.

Tigeman
8/30/2010, 12:00 AM
Bc we are full of RB's! Always are.

I'm not so sure about that.

Murray and Madu are gone.
Jermie Calhoun - Apparently the coaches just don't like him or he's just never
going to pan out
Miller - Questionable as anything other than mop-up time player to this point
Finch and Clay - Unproven freshman that could be great, but also could be just
the opposite come game time!

We have Brandon Williams coming in, but once again, unproven as of yet. And he's still not officially signed. Until then anything is possible.

So what we have is 2 freshman and back-ups. If I was a top RB, and confident, this wouldn't scare me.
