Former Texas Tech coach football Mike Leach has been hired as a game analyst by CBS College Sports.

Leach was fired with cause last December after he refused to apologize for allegedly banishing Adam James to a dark shed while the receiver sat out practice due to a concussion. Leach’s firing came a day before he was due an $800,000 bonus.

Leach is in the midst of a lawsuit against Texas Tech that alleges wrongful termination, breach of contract, defamation and fraud. Oral arguments will begin October 7.

One of the most successful coaches in Texas Tech history, Leach went 84-43 over ten seasons in Lubbock. He led the Red Raiders to bowl games in each of those season and won six of them.

The hallmark of Leach’s Texas Tech teams were high-powered offenses in which quarterbacks racked up gaudy numbers. Leach was also known for his off-field eccentricity, particularly his fascination with pirates.

At CBS College Sports, Leach will team up with veteran play-by-play announcer Roger Twibell, who’s also new to the network.
