which my late grandfather commonly referred to as "Steal Your Dollar City," is 50 this year. As a promotion, all 50 year-olds are admitted free. I shall not be taking them up on it.

That is all.

P.S. As a kid, I though "Dogpatch USA" was pretty cool. But for that matter, I enjoyed OKC's now defunct "Springlake" too.

Dogpatch (http://www.undergroundozarks.com/gallery/dogpatch) is looking good.

I find these kind of pics cool/nostalgic to look at....like a ghost town or something. :(

What's freaky is that this pic is of "The Bottomless Canyon" and it looks like one of the old characters corpse is hanging in effigy at the abyss of the Canyon.

I just fired up some ashes from one of Leroid's bongs. That **** must be pretty strong when it's green. ;)

Hell I don't know. I switched from Folgers to that 8 O'clock coffee....maybe that's it. :D

I have a long sordid history with Silver Dollar City and Branson in general.

The one good thing I can say about SDC is that I had an opportunity to meet Bob Hope there.

I love Silver Dollar City--it makes me happily nostalgic.

It's one of my favorite places.

The family went to SDC in 1977; I honestly had more fun in the bumper boats on the strip.

No, wait... I forgot about the epic funnel cakes at SDC - those were the awesome.

Fire in the hole and the ole' mine(where the saw blade looks like it's going to cut your face off) were very cool to me way back when.
I would gladly make love to one of their funnel cakes.

Everytime I talk about going back my wife nixes the idea because she isn't old yet.

"steal your dollar city" thats pretty funny.

I've always referred to Riverwind casino as Neverwin Casino.

I used to work at Steal yer Dollar City. I was a conductor/train robber and I also worked the flooded mine.

If you haven't been back there in the last decade or so they have some better rides...Powder keg kicks you like a carrier fighter take-off. But if you don't go it's all ok....gazillions of other people are going to make up for it.

Gosh, you were one of those guys?

I think they have the same skit now that they had in 1990 (and probably before that too).

At any rate, it's all a part of the Silver Dollar City magic, and I respect it entirely. :D
