I tried to find the original thread that LAS made, but I can't find it.

This show is sex on a stick. I need to smoke a cigarette after watching an episode. It is airing on Cinemax in Asia and we are about 5-6 episodes into the first season.

Nope is crazy about it and he keeps asking me if it was really like that way back in Roman times. I keep telling him well yeah, basically. I don't mean to sound sarcastic but Thai school children are still being taught that way back when there was rice in every field and fish in every pond.

I bet ole Spartacus ends up taking down the Roman Empire.

That dude RAWKS.

Seriously though...have you explained to Nope about how it turns out for Spartacus yet?

Has he seen the old Spartacus Movies?

No and I don't think so. I do have that old Spartacus Movie with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis on DVD, but I don't think Nope would remember it. Also, the History Channel did that great program on the real history and I hadn't realized that he ran all around present day Italy and had a chance to escape, but didn't because his men didn't want to. Nope didn't see that either.

Nope is a bit confused. He knows that I love watching True Blood and Supernatural and a few other shows like that. He keeps asking me if there are really vampires in the US. I keep telling him that yeah there really are a lot of vampires in the US, but never mind I'm a werewolf. That's when he kicks my ***.

It'll be interesting to see how that prequel series plays out. They're only even making that because Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) was diagnosed with cancer during the pre-second season physicals. So since they already had the studio and what-not paid for, they decided to make a prequel series while Whitfield recovers.

That is just so horrible. The TV series doesn't matter even one dit compared to Andy Whitfield making a full and complete recovery. May the God who gives us rain be with him and his family.

He's in remission and doing great. Aside from being a little gaunt, you wouldn't even know he had been sick. Now he's working out and trying to get back into gladiatorial shape.

I think you guys are really going to enjoy the prequels. It'll give you more of what you loved in Season 1 before Season 2 comes along and takes the show in a slightly different direction.

Oh, and if you have to choose between the Blue Ray and the DVD, there IS no choice on this one. Blue Ray is FAR superior. Deleted scenes, better SFX...just splurge and get that one. Trust me. :)

Thanks for that update, LAS. The guy is a stud and wears the patch of cloth around his manhood proudly. It must take a great deal of courage to act like that and maintain the intensity that is apparent in his eyes. Women are just naturally beautiful nekkid, but the guys have to beef up. The prequels, involving Thrace, are going to be must see.

The Netflix thing was good for people so they could see it and get a taste for the show, but to be perfectly honest, the special effects looked really bad when they were streaming and on computers. The difference in seeing them in HD is simply amazing. You'd think it was another cut of the show with retouched sfx when it isn't.

If you don't mind the degradation in quality then, by all means, stream it and watch it online, but otherwise I strongly recommend a) buying the BlueRay discs and b) taking Starz up on their $25 back offer in Jan and watching the show for a month for free on their HD network.

The other nice thing is that Starz/Encore has a better selection of movies to watch than HBO/Cinemax/Showtime put together.

Regardless, thanks for supporting the show, guys. I can honestly tell you that the next season is gonna blow the first one away. :)

You mentioned it last year, LAS, and I downloaded a few episodes and didn't care for it. Now that it is playing on Cinemax in Asia, it is the bomb with violence and sex and near nudity and storyline and some tremendous acting.

I just hope that Asian TV doesn't turn this into True Blood for the sake of Asian sensibilities. They recently drained that sucker of all nudity and meaningful plot.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena
Created due to Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Andy Whitfield’s cancer diagnosis, this six-episode prequel, which premieres January 21 on Starz, explores a torrid love affair between alpha-male gladiators Barca and Auctus, played by New Zealander Antonio Te Maioha and Australian actor-dancer Josef Brown, respectively. Also look for a steamy lesbian sex scene between Lucy Lawless as Lucretia and Jaime Murray as Gaia.- By Brandon Voss, the Advocate

Thump, thump, thump. Hello? Is this thing on? Did anyone watch the first episode of the second season prequel?

I did. I am intrigued. I see no reason why it shouldn't be as good as the first season.

Maybe LAS can tell us how the actor who plays Spartacus is doing health wise. I feel like he mentioned a fight with cancer.

Edit. Right, so that was this thread.:) I think I'll assume he is doing fine.

The prequel looks very promising, and the opium driven scene at the end didn't hurt in the slightest! :D

RE the actor who was playing Spartacus, I believe he is out of that role now due to the battle with cancer. I believe it went into remission at one point then it returned.

Here is the guy they're replacing him with...

Spartacus - Gods of the Arena is just now airing on cable TV in Asia on Cinemax. The end of the episode last night was the most pornographic scene that I have ever seen on cable TV.

It was probably Dwarthog’s opium-driven scene where a gladiator and a female slave were forced to make love for entertainment of guests while the slave’s gladiator boyfriend was in a fight to the death. The action kept switching back and forth between the two. Dang, it isn’t at all sex-on-a-stick. It is sex-on-a-sword.

For those of you who may not have an idea about it. This is the trailer.

I think that I have now seen all 6 episodes of Gods of the Arena. I think that the last one revealed that it was all a flashback from the bloodied John Hannah character at the end of Spartacus - Blood and Sand.

I'm just not sure where the writers can take it from here. I guess more blood and more sex would be a given. But without the constraints of the arena, the blood lust and sex lust would be very different, lawless in deed. Does anyone know if they are planning a third season?

seriously?

this sounds like something a PR writer would write that in a hilariously faux-industry sort of way. c'mon?

blood sex tits! whoo! take us there.....

it's pretty simple where the narrative needs to go (that's what the whole show and the name Spartacus is about). if it has to go on. Spartacus leads the slave rebellion against Rome...that is eventually put down, brutally, by Cassius. Cassius regains purchase for the patricians in the triumvarite.

the slave rebellion will have a lot of hot chicks and guys doing it in nature (the Romans will be doing it in robes, with more English accents).......the slaves will travel Italy looking for a fight...that will have a lot aristocrat babes and dudes ****ing in the interim.

then, at the end there will be a moral victory that OU fans will find hard to identify with....since not winning is out ken. winning as a pure form is what we like.

the end will be the old Spartacus restaged. "I am Sparctacus". "I am Spartacus".

and i will watch it. i like how they've done the first two seasons, dealt with a bad break, and pushed on.

Bless that guy who has the cancer.

I like the way you think. I will vote for you to be one of the writers if you promise to keep all the muscle men working out near naked and just barely contained in loin clothes.

The only reason why I brought this up is that pillage seems to have become a legitimate sport in Washington these days, but rape not so much. Maybe they can free some slaves, men and women, who just like servicing the big guys. I can see the modern day Tony Curtis types doing their singer of songs bit and occasionally an octave or two above normal.

Dude, you are indeed either drunk or crazy. There is abso...****ing..lutely nothing wrong with Manu Bennett's body or the character he portrays in Crixus.

I have an idea...why don't you tell a bunch of bodybuilders that you want to compare dick sizes because you heard that they had small penises. Let's see how that turns out.

I don't think it is that at all. If you have thighs the size of tree trunks, the danglely bits are going to look proportionally small. I've dated enough musclemen to know that you don't make that mistake twice.
