Im going to Vegas next week for the first time in about 5 years. Staying at the new Vdara. Are there any new things in Vegas that I should check out? I usually never make it out of the casino, but this time I will be there for a whole week and I will be dead broke if I try to gamble the whole time Im there.

Oh jeez...where to begin.
Vegas is practically my wife's and my second home.

Vdara is pretty damn good for a hotel...definitely grab breakfast or lunch at Silk Road sometime. But you're gonna wanna spend most of your time at Bellagio...hands down the best place on the whole Strip.

I wouldn't voluntarily go to Vegas if they were having a big blow job contest and I was the judge.

Spent too much time there back in the day against my will.

Vegas is all sparkly with no substance. Like 'Poke football.

I don't gamble. I figure that if I just want to throw my money away, I will give it to the needy. Going to Vegas and handing it over to rich, mob-infested goons doesn't suit me at all.

Above all, the fact that they have banned card counting is an abomination. Counting cards simply allows the player to use some skill in evening up the odds. The ban shows how crooked they really are in Vegas.

I will gamble in pool. But I would never play for money unless I have negotiated a spot that I think evens the odds. (I have been wrong many times, but the games stop at that point.) Those who play when they know the odds are against them are fools.

And I never said that card counting was illegal, but rather banned. The multi-card shoes they use just goes to show you that at any time the sucker has a decent chance of winning, they'll take it away.

What do the people in the eye-in-the-sky think? Probably "What a bunch of suckers."

So how much money did you bust Vegas for in your last trip. Let me guess: you won enough to pay for your trip, right?

Collier11
7/25/2010, 02:05 PM
Im going next weekend as a matter of fact.

The last time I went I spent $250 gambling, I made that last all weekend. I dont go to Vegas just for gambling, the pools are great, there are great shows (I saw Jim Gaffigan do standup), great sight seeing, great food, etc... I love Vegas and would go 3 or 4 times a year if I could afford it

And since when does a vacation pay for itself? I mean, if I go to Cancun im paying thousands of dollars to sit on a beach and drink, if I go to NY which I did this year I am paying hundreds of dollars to sight see, same for DC when I went.

Leroy Lizard
7/25/2010, 02:30 PM

It doesn't. For some reason, gamblers always make you want to think that they somehow paid for their trip through their gambling winnings.

Why? Not sure. It makes them no less boneheaded, just lucky. Of course, it means nothing because it's all a lie anyway.

If you could make $100 a night, then you could make $1,000 a night, or even $10,000 a night. In which case there would be no need to do anything but stay in Vegas full time and gamble.

You misunderstood him. He was saying he could make $100 last as long as he needed to in order to have a good time. In my experience, that may mean changing tables or just walking away for a while. If you can make good choices and stay on top of the pulse of a table, there is no reason why you can't win. I haven't heard anyone say they could make a living that way. Of course, I recognize that was you taking something you know nothing about and doing your thing...you know, talking out of your ***.

While you can win a lot of money gambling, the biggest mistake a man could make would be to depend on it. These people who gamble on rent money, their kids back to school money, or their whole paycheck are lost. I'm sure we've all seen innocent lives torn apart.
