View Full Version : Power Balance Bracelet

Boomer.....

The new "wonder bracelet" that is supposed to give you more balance and strength is starting to get a lot of publicity and many sports players (http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/02/power-balance-hits-the-nba/) are wearing them. A lot of people doubt the bracelet but others say it works wonders. I just had a friend buy one and his whole family tested it out and were amazed by the results. More balance, strength, endurance, and he sleeps better. It might just be a mind thing but who knows. They run $30 so I figured I would give it a shot. Anyone else have any experience with them?

Exactly how far out does "your body's energy field" extend?

Boomer.....
7/21/2010, 01:13 PM
Apparently 3 inches. At least that's how close the bracelet has to be to work.

Boomer.....

I was very skeptical at first also but I have heard first hand accounts from people who are also skeptical.

I really hope this isn't some attempt to try to sell these things to people on this site. It's hokum of the oldest variety. These are kinesiology effects that work with any item. There is no way that a "hologram energy bracelet" does ANYTHING, except remove cash from a wallet.

Boomer.....

If this were a scam, which it does appear to be, why would so many athletes wear them and support the company?

SoonerAtKU
7/22/2010, 08:43 AM
Because they're paid to. Either that or they are fooled by the same nonsense that the customers are. Either way, it's nonsense.

If this were a scam, which it does appear to be, why would so many athletes wear them and support the company?

1. money? 2. many athletes are gullible? 3. convinced by the placebo effect?

Here is a good rule of thumb - any product or supplement that claims to balance something or de-toxify something is a scam. Anything calling itself an alternative medicine or remedy is a scam. Anything with the word homeopathic is, you guessed it, a scam. Whole life insurance, variable annuities is a .... well, anyway that's off topic.

SoonerAtKU

Here's another hint: If you start searching for something in a Google toolbar and it auto-completes with "whateveryou'researchingfor scam", then you're not in a good place.

It might. If you believe. We call that the "placebo effect." For that matter, I could kick you in the nutz and if you believed it would make you feel better, it would.

In fact, that's the same scam these holistic healers, and I group Oral Roberts-types among them, along with over-reaching chiropractors who claim to be able to cure disease by chiropractic adjustment are running.

If it really worked, universities and healthcare companies would be spending millions to research these things on how they work, if the effect can be magnified, and see what illnesses they can treat. Also, you know the military would be issuing these things to every soldier if they worked.

I would think that nobody on here would fall for this junk, but then again, we have a multi-page thread on how people are coping with the changing astrological signs.

The reason they are pulling them backwards to show their new balance is because after they paid for it, they dont have that extra weight in their wallet pulling them back.

You could end up with a resonance effect, which would turn each of them into adult-sized vibrators.

Really, I think athletes are extremely superstitious and if they wore it just because someone sent one to them to try and they had a crazy good game, suddenly, they're wearing it every day just out of superstition. It's no different than the little pink bracelet the Make-a-Wish girl gave them when they visited the lockerroom, really. Holy crap, if I don't wear the same North Carolina shorts (michael jordan). throw white powder into the air (lebron james) or wear my lucky bracelet (many athletes), I'm suddenly gonna suck!

I do have to say this about the Power Balance bracelets. They do serve a purpose. It's nice to have certain wearable items that readily identify the wearer as a gullible person.

Now, if only we could find a way to have wearable items that would identify the wearer as mentally unstable, we would have an easy fix for Homey's proposed question of a crazy filter between guns and crazy people.
