It's a chilly 105 out here in the desert. Supposedly feels like 98, but that's a load of horseshat if you ask me. It feels 110 to me, and th ehumidity is about double normal which is low compared to what I was used to before I moved here, but it still cranks up the sweat level. I was in the car earlier and my jeans were actually burning the skin on my legs thanks to the strong and direct sunshine.

Yeah, I really feel terribly for anyone having to cope with high heat. The horrors.

I went home yesterday afternoon and pulled fence posts. I was sweating like Shaq in the 4th quarter. No breeze, and hooomid as a mother****er.

"heat index" is something they made up to make you feel as bad in the
summer as you do in the winter when they give the "wind chill factor".

only the wind chill is more real.

I just hope all the global warming nuts are getting along OK, since they don't use A/C and such.

Heat index and wind chill seem to play into an annoying habit of a lot of people to exaggerate. It's not good enough that it was 100 degrees outside - "yeah, but it really felt like 110. And that was in the SHADE!" (fyi, official temp readings are taken in the shade). :hot:

Be that as it may, I'll take 93 in the shade in Reno, NV over 93 in the shade on Reno Avenue.

No ****. 100 in Tucson feels like maybe 88-90 does here. Actually, no it doesn't. You can't compare dry heat to wet heat. I will say this though. I was changing a water pump on a USPS jeep back in the day when Tucson set a new record for them - 118 I think. Laying under that jeep on asphalt with hot anti-freeze splashing all over was as hot as I've ever been.

BTW, you going to $3 burger night tonight?

BillyBall

Yeah, when it hits 90 in Chicago the heat is as oppressive as Stalin's Regime. Most people don't associate Chicago and humidity, but it gets balls stuck to the leg weather here in mid-July through mid-August.

Which is another thing Homey can add to his list of why he hates this city.

I can always find a reason to go there. If you're gonna visit, give me a time window and I'd enjoy having a suds or whisky with ya.

The upstairs has been closed because the A/C has been out, so it might be a bit "friendly" in there this evening downstairs.

It's been 100+ for like 40 something straight days here. Only about 70 more to go!

It's funny. Pushing 50, I have found myself liking the heat more as I get older. Real heat though, not evaporating flood-waters like this orc breath.

There is nothing good about this, unless you photograph golf courses.

I was in the Philippines in June...couldn't breathe. Now, this isn't near as bad, but I was scuba diving there all day.

Here I'm just hiding.

I went in for pint night Monday, and it was closed upstairs. I thought for sure they'd get it fixed by tonight. Me and momma (and maybe one of the kids) will probably be there 5-ish or so.

I called, it's fixed.
I'd enjoy saying hello. I need to go to my studio anyway...
