I wish I could understand why these type of things happen.

Link (http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=13&articleid=20100709_13_0_hrimgs232334)

Basically, a white former transit officer was found guilty of involuntary manslaugher instead of murder after shooting a black man in the back. He said in court that he was reaching for his taser because he was worried that the man had a gun. Instead, the officer pulled a gun himself and fatally shot the man.

It was a Rodney King-like scene in Oakland last night because of the verdict :(

Another eerie similarity is that the feds will now conduct their own investigation of the shooting following the rioting.

Double jeopardy means nothing if you shoot the wrong person.

Protesters looted an athletic footwear store and ransacked a jewelry shop.

I'll tell you why they happen. Big cities are full of worthless thugs on welfare who are dying for an excuse to be looting racist *******s. No more, no less. I'd be a lot happier if it read "police shoot and kill 83 racist ****wads who were rioting" than seeing them go to jail. These people are nothing but ****ing animals.

Oh, well if you agree with Dean and I, that must mean you're on the right side of the issue. ;) :D

...and by right side of the issue, I mean the correct side of the issue. ;)

It's not as bad as the infamous New Orleans looter carrying away Heineken... but the situation is still sad.

We lived in Royal Oak Michigan for over 3 years when i was a kid. In 1967 I was 8 years old. I remember seeing Downtown Detroit 3 times when we lived there. It was the only place my Father ever felt the need to own a handgun. Back then someone might pull up next to you and just blow your **** away. Scary times. I have never felt the need to go back and visit. Never.

If you can figure out why that riot had to happen...you'll be one step closer to figuring out why and of the riots after that had to happen. Hell for that matter....figure out why the Tulsa Riots happened.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall if any one of you happened to be in a situation where you were visiting an old person in the nursing home and they asked you to look up the lotto ticket their friend had bought for them and you looked it up and they won 40 million. As you tell them the good news...it's to much for their heart to take and they pass on. I know everyone of you would make sure the ticket got to their next of kin. :D

I can figure why the riots happened. But you will need to explain why they had to happen. In case you forgot, 53 people died in the LA riots ten years ago.

Or is this a case of WMG?

I would simply approach the next of kin, tell them that I know of some estate assets that are as yet undiscovered, and offer to disclose the nature and location of said assets for a 25% fee.:D

Hardly. I just happened to have spent the last week in San Francisco and thus had the opportunity to watch and read a great deal of local coverage of the verdict's aftermath.

The vast majority of the people protesting were doing so peacefully. In the wake of the riots that occurred after the shooting, the Oakland police and city government spent a good deal of time preparing a plan for protests and possible riots. They communicated well with the community leaders during the trial and people that wanted to protest knew that they would have a forum to do so.

There were specific areas of the downtown Oakland area that were specified as protest sites. People were given a chance to get up 'on their soapbox' so to speak and express their thoughts. There was a large police presence in each of these areas and all the organized protests went off in a non-violent, safe manner.

The violence and looting was confined to a 2-block area and lasted for a short period of time. The vast majority (upwards of 75% according to Oakland police) of people arrested during the violent outbreaks were from outside of Oakland. They were referred to as "professional anarchists" - people that travel around to places where there are tense situations and try to push the public and authorities over the edge.

Oh no the media is taking pictures of nothing but whites dressed like blacks to make blacks look bad while the racist whites gets off free and racism continues in this country with white people looking down at blacks who are wrongly accused and don't do anything wrong because they're victims and will always be victims because they were slaves so we should forgive their violent, drug filled rap, gang, and thug culture because it's not their fault

Glad we got that cleared up.
