Kobayashi is out. Chestnut in the lead at 38.

I watched.

And was amazed at the over the top coverage by ESPN.

Not all competitions are a sport, WWL.

Easy win for Joey. 54 this year...14 less than his record. Wonder if it would have been more if Kobayashi had been competing?

Joey has 4 in a row now.

I know this is gross, but I just wonder how long it takes for the body to cycle through all that stuff. I'd think the makers of Charmin or Angel Soft would want to co-sponsor along with Nathan's.

my understanding is that it's not around long enough for that to be an issue

apparently part of their training is stomach stretching. They drink tons of water (like 1-2 gallons at a time) to stretch it.

I can't remember why, but I think MTV maybe did a documentary about competitive eating a while back. I think it was just before Chestnut started his reign as the No 1 competitive eater. It was pretty interesting to watch actually....Had a segment or two on Kobayashi. It was crazy to watch him put down pound after pound of food.

You are right though, that is what they do, practice stretching their stomach. To do that, they will drink lots of water, or eat lots of low calorie foods like lettuce. Then they will go back to eating normal for a while, and then do the same thing over again. When it gets close to a competition, they will fast for a few days prior.

A lot of the guys they focused on, where actually in pretty good health, because they do eat well and exercise. Especially Kobayashi, who works out a bunch and is actually ripped. Of course then there are the mammoth 400lb guys that compete that just eat a lot all the time, and will probably die of heart disease or diabetes by the time they are 45.

yeah, i think it's pretty retarded. the fact that there is some professional organization that blacklists people is even more retarded

the sad thing is that Kanye Kobayashi gave them even more press
