The thing so many people tend to forget is that Hendrix got those sounds with a 3 man band, playing a Fender Stratocaster with a reverb bar and a wah-wah peddle. No Moog synthesizer, no re-mix, no electronic manipulation.

Say what you want about him personally, the dude made music that has not been replicated.
