Anyone pick one up today? I'm curious to see what my fellow sooners think about the new gadget.

I'm currently using the 3G and will upgrade once I have an extra $200, besides that any suggestions for the old iPhone besides selling it, using it as a paperweight or a door stop?

Have fun losing signal while holding your iPhone 4.

Buy the iPhone 4 and jailbbreak it so you won't have to use AT&T. The new OS4 is really sweet. The e-mail and sub folders on the home pages are really sweet.

Do NOT jailbreak the iPhone 4. Bad things will result-there's some stuff on the web out there about why it's a bad idea.

Agreed that OS4 is pretty sweet.

Supposedly the iPhone 4, when synced to iTunes, will check to see if you have an AT&T account or some suchlike.

1. If you have to wait until you've got $200 saved up you can't ****ing afford a cell phone. WTF is wrong with you?

2. Jailbreak? OS4? 3G? WTF are you geeks talking about?

sell the 3G for $$$

the problem with using another carrier is that 3G only works with AT&T, otherwise your data connections are going to be slow

i have a 2G, so it doesn't matter...

I have one. It's awesome. But it's my first iPhone as well, so I don't know if that's just general iPhone excitement, or iPhone 4 excitement.

the iPhone kinda pwns anything but Android. i still prefer it over Android, but i think it's probably a valid debate

I've had each iphone when they've come out and sold the prior model for close and once for more than I paid for the new one. I am holding off on the iphone 4 because I want the white one(FYI the white versions sell for more aftermarket) and I think they'll fix the antenna issue in the next month or so. I'm an apple fanboy so this is difficult to wait it out but I must. I've had the OS 4 software on my phone since the day after WWDC(there was a really good leak of the software 2 1/2 weeks early) so I can deal with OS 4 on my 3GS for a while. Anyone looking to sell old iphones to buy the new one.....ebay is where I've had the best luck, next would be craigslist.

There are lots of things I can spend $200 on, I wanted to know if it was worth it.

I don't know, I'm having some wierd issues with the multi tasking on iOS4

Their e-mail system still sucks and needs improvement as far as syncing with the server and I'm not going to use their paid system to improve it.

Had to do a hard memory wipe on my 3G then jailbroke it and unlocked it with iOS4 and sold it last night for 225.

On a side note I find it really annoying when I know that the AT&T stores have iPhone 4's in stock but won't sell them on a walk-in basis until Tuesday due to shortages around the country. I know the Norman store by Target has them in the back along with the one on Memorial and a store in Edmond.

I use my phone for crucial work related activities. First I use the internet to get a phone number and or address for the place I need to go. Then I use to GPS to get a ETA so I don't have to think to hard. Then I come on here to antagonize you people. All from my Blackberry.

Folks under the age of 30 can't live without the innerweb in their pocket. I mainly used my iPhone for the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Cracked, The Onion, and USA Today apps. Also the thing I liked most about the iPhone (which blackberry's have as well) is how text message conversations are displayed. Also the ability to use GPS when I'm out of Oklahoma is great. I'm more excited about recording videos in HD from my seats during home games this fall.

Heh. My Droid (htc hero) does pretty much all of that. The only thing it doesn't do is HD video, and I don't care about that. I rarely use the camera anyway.

The iPhone has been incredibly handy to me over the last few years, but it's not something I couldn't do without. Applications I've used that have made my life easier in some way:

Looking up cases on LexisNexis.
Checking train schedules in Switzerland on the CFF mobile app.
Using the Remote app to control my iTunes/AppleTV libraries.
Streaming video from Netflix.
Reading a book on Kindle when I didn't bring my Kindle with me.
Quick reference to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Appellate Procedure, and Evidence, plus the U.S. Constitution without an internet connection or a stack of books.
Music and/or video to keep myself occupied on infrequent workouts.

I'm sure the Androids or whatever do the same stuff. I just find my iPhone really handy.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but anyone who is still trying to get an iPhone 4, they will have them tomorrow at AT&T stores that sell iPhones. They open at 7, hope this helps someone.

Well today I went to the Apple Store and swapped it out for a new one due to a slight rattle which four different employees told me was normal due to their phone's having it. I wasn't buying it so they happily offered to swap it out. Got a new one that is great, I am obviously being paranoid but feel like the sleep button on top is a bit loose, but I checked the other phones at the store and they were all like that. In fact it looks as though my original might have been a bit stiff.

Other than that, I am loving it, it's smaller, fits in my pocket easier, have had only one call dropped in the past week which is better than my 3G did. The multitasking is great, and the ability to sync more than one email account in my inbox is even better. I also really like how it looks, and because of this I ordered Ghost Armor which is supposedly a little bit better than invisible shield. It even syncs quicker, and also the HD video recording is great, I have videos from the past week and it just amazes me how clear it is from a phone.

Apps are pretty self explanatory, but the ones that are updated for iOS allow me to switch between them and pick up exactly where I left off with no reloading or anything like that.

The areas that bother me are the requirement of having a case. I was always going to put one on, but with a case my fears of cracking the back of the screen from dropping it are alleviated. Also the new glass seems to scratch easier than my previous phones, but I guess that comes with the territory.

I would recommend holding off at least a month (if you can) before purchasing one. Demand will have died down, all the accessories will be in stock (bumper, screen protectors are a must), and you won't be waiting over an hour to get your hands on the phone it self.

Any questions, please feel free to post them and I'll do my best to answer.
