move up to 18 and add a solid 3 point shooter in cook.

per yahoo sports:

Thunder could climb past 18

After acquiring the No. 18 pick from the Miami Heat, the Oklahoma City Thunder might not be done moving up.

League sources say the Thunder have discussed a deal that would send the 18th and 21st picks with point guard Eric Maynor to the Indiana Pacers for the 10th overall selection.

gunning for ekpe udoh?

I'm not sure that I like that rumored trade with Indiana--I like Maynor, and I feel like we could get more out of our 3 first-rounders. But maybe Presti really likes one of the big guys going in that range.

apparently golden state really wants him, and they're sitting at 6. maybe greg monroe??

also, i do like maynor too. thought he did very well for his rookie season in the backup role...there's a lot of promise there with him.

I think these kind of trades are scummy. But I suppose they fit in perfectly with David Stern's personality.

Care to elaborate on this?

ok this trade didn't happen??

yankee

and our 18th and 21st picks were eric bledsoe and quincy pondexter...two guys i was really high on and would provide great depth behind russ and KD. aldrich is one of the most overrated players in this draft. he'll grab a few boards and get some blocks, but his offensive game is pretty raw. sounds a lot like last year's #2 pick hasheem thabeet doesn't it?

The guys we picked are going to other teams.

If I were the Thunder, I'd much rather have Aldrich than Pondexter and Bledsoe.

So what does everybody think about going for broke to get Aldrich? I think the guys we picked would have been great additions, but it also still would have left us with the weak spot we started with, which is the center. Krstic isn't a true center. He can't bang with the big boys. Collison is scrappy but still isn't what we really need in a starter. Thomas barely plays. Aldrich gives us a solid force down low. 6'11' 245lbs, and probably a tad heavier at this point. I can't really complain with this draft for the Thunder. Sam Presti obviously wanted to try to fill that hole this season, and I'm sure not going to question Presti given his track record. And we just picked Magnum Rolle, center from LSU. Apparently he is 6'11" as well. Looks like Presti had his mind set that center was what he needed and the other positions were sitting pretty right now.

21 was Brackins.

The Eric Bledsoe pick and trade to the Clippers for a future pick wasn't a terrible idea. He was the 18th pick. Even with Blake griffin playing next year, the Clippers are almost a lock to have a future top 10 pick...if not top 5. I love Blake, but that team has problems and a track record to go along with it.

Willie Warren just got drafted by the Clippers. Hmm...

I know. Teammates with Blake again. Maybe he will play like he did when Blake was actually his teammate again. If he does, he'll get some serious playing time.

Great for Willie, not so much for Tiny. But whatever, I'm more interested in Magnum Rolle From LA Tech, another C drafted by the Thunder.

Sounds like a brand of condoms, Magnum Rolle.

magnum no longer with us either..traded to indy for the 57th and cash.
pleis will be stashed for a couple years, cole will start, we got 2 one year mercenaries who may or may not help and can be cut off the payroll next year if we want. we have a future clips #1 but when i dont know. we will be able to have money to sign people for the next year as cook and pete would cut off 8 million if we dont want them next year. doesnt look pretty but should be effective.

We need someone who can board and defend, Aldrich can do that right away. We dont need him to score, we have plenty of that

I like the trades...if you take 3 guys in the 1st round then you have to sign 3 guys guaranteed to decently high contracts. We don't really need bledsoe cause maynor is a good back up pg to westbrook. Aldrich isn't an offensive force right now but like has been said already we don't really need him to be an offensive force. If he averages double digit rebounds 8-12 points and a block or 2 a game he'll be worth it.

I agree about Aldrich. Now, we also have BJ Mullen there, who is the same type of player, but I think Aldrich is a bit more polished and accomplished. Like they said last night, he's not going to be a star, but he's going to be solid. That is all that the Thunder need. Also, I like the trade for Mo Pete. You have an experienced back up for KD. Presti and company, once again, have done a masterful job.

On another note, if Phil Jackson retires, I think that the Lakers take a step back, and the most mentioned team last night to take their place atop the West is the Thunder.
