I'm very optimistic that we will be playing in that final game, and it may be the final OU/Neb match up for some time. I made my hotel reservations yesterday. The prices are already high. I'm staying a little further out than I would like, but I intend to be there.

I think you're right. OU/Neb will be the game.

I heard that their offense has been lifting weights and their defense is even better without a man named Sue.

Who all made the trip to Jerry's world for the BYU game (or any Cowboy-games)?

Is it totally awesome? I want to go.

My seats for the BYU game were 40 yardline, so I was excited. I got there and I was on the VERY TOP. I couldn't even tell who the players were from that high. I basically had to watch the godzillatron monitor. It sucked. Didn't feel like a college football game at all. The only thing good about it was that you could drink. And even then they were really expensive. The RRR atmosphere would die if it ever moves there. Jerry World blows.

It's not all that great. Reliant is WAY better and I live near Jerry World. Its really kinda sad that they couldn't do any better than that.

Prices are soooooooo ridiculous.

I don't particularly care for the stadium, I too had seats around the 40, but up high. I watched most of the game on the big screen, which wasn't that good. Also the sound was terrible, and the state boards were non-existant. I agree there are better venues, but I want to be there to see us play and win that final Big XII game

We had a blast tailgating there for BYU game in Lot 14 where all the tour busses were along with a grass field to throw the ball around. Seats were on 2nd level in BYU section which was great up until a few minutes before half for obvious reasons. Nothing compares to tailgating in Norman or atmosphere of OU/tx but it's a great scene for a Champ. game & the whole area will be in prime shape in anticipation of SB. They've already just completed a huge expansion of I-30 so traffic won't be an issue. We had plenty of beverages before we went into game so all I had was a couple margaritas at $12/pop inside the stadium. The Ruff-Nek guns sounded like thunder inside there.

You can probably guess why, but Dave Campbell's 2010 Texas Football has the horns and the huskers playing for the championship.

Sounds like my experience at the 01 Orange Bowl.

I was sitting on the second to the top row of the stadium.

I could not see the football with the naked eye! It's hard to see a fumble if you can't see the ball.

Modern stadium owners have become scientific about how to separate patrons from their money, and hence, modern stadiums are now little more than monetary vacuums.

That's what they talk about when they say that a current stadium has no "revenue potential" or whatever term they choose. What they really mean is that they can't bilk you enough in this grand old palace, so we better tear it down.

If so, then it comes down to will Oklahoma be good enough to beat sa*et AND the zebras this year?

No way!!!

As a Husker fan I want Nebraska's last Big XII game between OU and NU.

I honestly think anyone outside of Texas will want that.

Undefeated and the winner going to the BCS Championship game would make it perfect.

.

Why? For the most part Nebraska has been an afterthought in the Big 12.

For those who still pine for the days of the Big 2, Little 6, yes, you undoubtedly want a throwback to the days of yesteryear when poodle dog skirts were in and Nebraska was relevant.

For those who recognize the Big 12 for what it truly is, it would have been fitting justice for the two most relevant teams to play in the last game.

That's what I said. We agree.

The Big EXII is on borrowed time and everyone knows it. Football fans over the age of 15 that remember the classic OU-NU for all the marbles games would like to see one more.

Nebraska went through an unprecedented up cycle from the late 60's through the early 00's. Most teams go through a down cycle in that kind of a time frame. Nebraska has been in a down cycle for the last 10 years but is moving in the right direction.

Texas went through the same thing as did OU. You can spout off all you want about how the Huskers won't ever come back and how Texas will never fall but the adults on this board know that you are wrong.

I think Nebrasky is setting itself up for a huge disappointment this coming season based on a very strong finish to last season.

Basically, a win over us on your home turf, combined with nearly winning the Big 12, combined with a mid-tier bowl win means that you're going to have an even better season now, right?

Only if Suuuuuuuuh returns, which he isn't :D

Seriously - he was a very, very huge part of your success in those late season runs and I just don't see Nebbish doing shizzle this year without him. Even with Suh, you guys:

1- Lost to Iowa State at home.
2- Was one game away from not going to the Big 12 Championship game at all, if you lost to KSU at home... a team not even bowl eligible.
3- You also lost to Texas Tech at home... by three touchdowns.

Sorry Bugeaters, but unless you can find some offensive answers, we Big 12ers are gonna make an example outta you in your final Big 12 season.

Gee willikers Skippy, I don't think that's my point.

Nebraska has had a far more difficult time without their Prop 48 Casualties and being able to take "non-scholarship" athletes who are allowed to go to Nebraska for free with their individual counties paying the tab. That pesky little steriod thing is an issue as well.

Will Nebraska come back? Undoubtedly to some extent if they find the right coach. The rules have changed though. Recruiting has changed. The landscape of college football has changed. Corporations and boardrooms run college football. Dr. Tom doesn't seem to understand that and naively believes things will be different in the Big 10/11.

I used to respect Nebraska fans quite a bit. It is easy to be gracious when you win all the time. It is significantly more difficult to be magnanimous when you lose.

As for my Longhorns, who knows when this run will end. When Mack leaves? Will Muschamp be able to hit the ground running? The only thing that is consistent is that change is inevitable and all programs run in cycles.

And remember your old Roman history. All glory is fleeting. When returning to Rome, the triumphant general over the Roman Legions was given a grand parade. He would enter the city through the Porto Triumphalis, where he would surrender his command. He was escorted through the city with thousands of the citizenry cheering his return. And yet, standing with him in his chariot the entire time, would be a slave whose purpose was to remind him at all times "that he was only a man, and that all glory is fleeting."

Yeah it was all about the partial qualifiers and nothing to do with Osborne retiring after 97 and then McBride retiring after 99 that was the cause of NU's slide.

Are the Big Ten school message boards not being as friendly and welcoming as us Big 12ers or something?

I'm not asking you to go away or saying-without-saying that you're annoying or anything... it's fun talking to fellow football fans during the offseason... I'm just curious.

Solich wasn't too bad.

Callahan was a joke.

Pellini... jury is out.

And yes.. I am hopeless. Can't believe it took you this long to figure it out.

Now.. is Dr. Tom going to start his whinefest again when he sees that Meatchicken and Burning Couch U. control the Big 10/11?

Not sure winning your conference championship 3 times in 14 years constitutes a "run". Just saying. An upswing for sure, but a run usually involves stringing some titles together.

Multiple BCS wins, multiple conference titles, always having 10 wins and a national championship cannot be compared to whatever KSU ever did. They've never won a single national title in any sport all time (the only school in our conference with that distinction btw). Horrible comparison.

He's right, though most here hate to admit it, they have been on a run. The only thing between sa*et and 10 conference titles instead of 3 is Oklahoma. Prior to 2000 it was the nebbish making a contest of it. If the Sooners had not rebounded the whorns would have owned the Big XII.
