This is the worst flooding I've see in my two tours living in Oklahoma. NW OKC is under water. Went to take my kids to VBS this morning and it was canceled. Probably 2-3 feet of water standing on Memorial & MacArthur an hour ago. My back yard is almost completely under water and my gutters are begging for mercy. Today is trash day and I have seen the current of gushing water, drag full dumpsters over a 100 feet from where they originally were. Memorial & Penn is unusable.

Mother Nature is showing her awesome power today.

This is beyond a 500 year weather event, which is "only" 8 inches in 6 hours! OKC got 9.45. I'm in Lawton and I didn't even know it was raining.

http://blog.newsok.com/weather/2010/06/14/more-rain-in-six-hours-than-would-be-expected-in-500-years-for-the-oklahoma-mesonet-at-oklahoma-city-north-at-the-oklahoman/

Gary McManus, Oklahoma Climatological Survey said: The 9.45 inches of rain at the OKC North Mesonet site surpasses the 500-year 6-hour maximum rainfall event of about 8.0 inches. In other words, for a 6-hour period, we’ve surpassed the most that would be expected every 500 years (i.e., we’ve beat the 500-year rainfall event for OKC). In fact, it has also bested our 500-year 12-hour event already, which is about 9.2 inches.
AND the 100-year 24-hour event, which is also about 9.2 inches.

Well, on the upside I guess we've caught back up with the annual and monthly rainfall totals.

I've got 160 acres of bermuda grass cut curing out to bale. Well maybe I should say I had some hay to bale. Son of a bitch.

Don't know about T-town but here in Mayes County it's just a light shower.

No.

You must not be an old-school OU innerweb person. He's a weatherman, man.

Yep, I only go back a few years. If he has anything to do with the Oklahoma Mesonet (which I suspect he did or does) I bow down to him.

I believe the Oklahoma Mesonet is the most sophisticated weather network in the U.S. (and probably the world).

Check it out: http://www.mesonet.org/

So how much rain did you get out your way? Was it bad on the southside of town?

Phil

My way it rained but nothing but some minor street flooding. Out by my office in Edmond there were neighborhoods underwater.

Oh, and Gary McManus is GaryMac, one of the creators of the original OU sports board, way back in the mid-90s. Their site eventually ended up becoming the current Rivals site, I think.

They also had a great OU Chat room for a while.

GaryMac and maybe Deke and Boo were part of the Soonertimes crowd/admins. Then philosophical differences and an offer from Rivals led to a board split.

The philosophical differences centered on whether or not you were allowed to say that John Blake sucked.

At least that's my recollection.

I saw Gary on one of the local news channels talking about the crazy weather we've been having.
