Video shows Young punching man

By Calvin Watkins

DALLAS -- Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was issued a Class C assault citation after an incident at a Dallas-area strip club early Sunday morning.

According to surveillance video of the incident, Young threw a punch and set off a fight inside an office at Club Onyx after a man indentified as Creiton Kinchen insulted Young and made a derogatory sign referencing the University of Texas, Young's alma mater.

"This [Kinchen's comments] obviously made Mr. Young upset," Dallas police Lt. Craig Miller said. "That conversation continues and there was more accusations against the University of Texas which prompted, in this case, Mr. Young to come back into the room where he just about exited."

According to the police report, Kinchen sustained a bloody lip in the fight, but did not require medical attention.

Titans spokesman Robbie Bohren said the team was aware of the incident and had contacted Young. He said the team was still gathering information.

NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello declined comment but Miller said the NFL had reached out to Dallas police regarding the incident.

The video shows Young conversing with Kinchen and a man indentified by police as the club's manager calmly before nearly exiting the room. Kinchen then flashed an upside-down "Hook 'em Horns" hand sign, causing Young to retaliate. Bystanders attempted to breakup the fight and the lights were briefly turned off before Young exited the room.

Police told The Associated Press Young was not at the club when police responded to a call of a physical confrontation. His citation is punishable by a fine up to $500.

A call to Young's attorney Scotty Allen was not returned and Young could not be reached for comment.

Young returned to form this season after two troubled years in which he dealt with injuries and inconsistency on the field before being replaced by veteran Kerry Collins.

In Sept. 2008, Nashville, Tenn. police were asked to search for Young after family members called the Titans informing them of their concern about his state of mind.

Young was later located at a friend's house.

The concern over Young's well-being came after he was booed in a victory over Jacksonville and left the game with a left knee injury.

"What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?'' Young's mother Felecia Young told The Nashville Tennesssean in September 2008. "He may not want to deal with it [all], but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first."

Titans coach Jeff Fisher was holding his annual charity softball game Sunday night in Nashville. Young was not on the early list of players committed to appear in the game, but he is expected to attend the Titans three-day mandatory minicamp Monday.

Young, the No. 3 pick overall in 2006, got his starting job back last fall when Tennessee started 0-6 and owner Bud Adams put him back in the lineup. He helped the Titans win eight of their final 10 and heads into his fifth NFL season with a 26-13 record as a starter.

Calvin Watkins covers the Cowboys for ESPNDallas.com. Information from The Associated Press contributed to this report.

If it turns out the manager had been drinking, then Vince will have the last laugh. The guy will lose his job and not be allowed to work in an establishmnt that serves alcohol, at least in Texas. Fines and maybe jailtime, though I am not 100% sure on the jail bit. And it will cost the club owner big bucks.

Haha....I drive past that particular club from work almost everyday from work, haha. That part of West Dallas is the Strip Club District of Dallas for you out of towners. There are probably half a dozen or more clubs within a few hundred yards of each other.

I haven't been to that particular one that VY was in. That club is geared more towards, and I don't mean this with any racial implications whatsoever, the African-American demographic.

I just find it most concerning for Titans fans that he was in a strip club in Dallas at 3:30am when I believe the Titans have some sort of OTA or minicamp scheduled for today.

Horn fans display a fundamental weakness when they get boiled over about the Horns-down flash:

Never, ever display your sensitivities. Your enemies will use that information against you.

The alcohol board in texas is very picky about following their rules. If you work at a bar, you can't drink while working. They will shut the bar (no innocent until proven guilty) while they go through the process of deciding if you broke the rules - and they can drag it out to the point of bankruptcy.

I have a friend who owns a small bar here. The board has mafia-like power.

So basically, they give one man a slap on the risk for deliberately assaulting someone without cause, yet theyll ruin the livelyhoods of dozens of employees because one might have consumed a little alchohol??

Edit: Actually considering that chickensh*t of an oversaturated state, I'm sure that's standard operating procedure in texas.
