So, really all they got was a slap on the wrist and a 2 year postseason ban.

I'd say 10 schollies a season is going to be a pretty big hit. :gary:

Does the AP even matter anymore?

i've been saying that they'd keep the AP no matter what for a while

and the scholarships are going to hurt more than the postseason ban...

the AP has never had to worry about probations when doing their voting.

thats just for the 03-04 season when they were awarded the split title, no announcement yet on the BCS title

The AP aint been relevant for a number of years now .

All the Teams have agreed to play under the BCS rules, so the AP is just melted ice cream

so them vacating the title is a harder slap?? -10 schollies, and the 2yr postseason ban will hurt their program way more than giving up a championship that everyone who even watches football knows they won...

i'm just surprised they got anything... the championship is already tainted, let em keep it...

They're actually talking about the 2004 season title, even though the game was in 05. Nobody is claiming they had ineligible players for the 2003 season, and they're not vacating any of those wins. They're just saying that for the AP portion of the 2004 title, no change will happen. You're right about them having nothing to do with the BCS side of the title, though.

From the article in the OP:

"...vacating 14 victories in which Bush played from December 2004 through the 2005 season."

So it starts with the Pain Bowl, and goes through the Rose Bowl that they lost.

Eh, they pwned us on the field, so that will never change...it's just as well.
Losing 30 shollies is huge. Loss of tv would have been the real killer though.

My biggest peeve in all of this is that we keep having to be reminded of that game.

I hear Bama has claimed the 2004 NC--they have claimed ever other year that is in doubt.
