I don't know what he could have done. He just got screwed because KU has put their eggs in one basket for since they've been around.

I have to think this has more to do with the ticket scalping deal than the conference thing

I think you're right on that. He might have been more proactive on this realignment thing, but it got serious a lot faster than most of us expected and KU probably has the brightest prospects of any of the Big12 schools left behind, if only because of their basketball program. He was tainted because of the ticket scandal.
