schollie reductions on them just as OU and Texas enter the league would be velly intelesting. Might put them in a hole that takes a while to climb out of.

The Bell Will Toll for SUC - Tomorrow

And then Friday 5 teams join their conference and some TV network writes them a huge check shortly thereafter. Not a bad week, all told.

No slap on the wrist, that is for sure.

2 Year Postseason ban and the Scholly loss is apparently 20, wow!

No word on the vacating of wins

This is very comparable to the Albert Means deal that crippled Bama for several years. Interesting to see the NCAAs findings

Will lose all of their wins from Bush's final season.

It's what I've heard. I haven't seen it reported anywhere, though.

Its also being reported that usc intentionally rehired as many from the staff of the 04' team as possible to take the weight of the punishment

So they are banned from the post season during the final two season of the "Pac 10". Then most likely, they will return after recruiting took hits from reductions in scholarships and kids not wanted to go there because of the postseason ban.....ONLY to find that they now are competing with OU and Texas, which have been stealing their recruits for the last two years. It must suck to be an SUC fan right now. Awesome! :D

Oh, and they have one less title, and possibly one less Heisman. Heh.

It was breaking news here in so-cal!! Karma is a b**ch!! By the way I hope we join the pac whatever it would be called. Get to see OU play every year out here would be awesome!! A lot of people I talk to out here really seem excited about it

Death watch:

My favorite:

http://wearesc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126080

A few things I find funny about Trojan logic expressed on that board.

1. They continually ask why it took so long for the NCAA to end the investigation. (Answer: Because SC wouldn't cooperate!)

2. They think that if allegations of illegal activity spur an investigation, the NCAA only investigates that activity.

One thing I will say, we now live in a culture of PAY ME. It is near impossible for any school to avoid getting in trouble if the athletes dont care. Character is going to be a bigger deal now than at any time.

Wow, they got hammered. Vacated wins, lose 10 scholarships for 2 years and no bowl appearances for 2 years.

Could OU or Texas have picked a better time to join them?

IronHorseSooner
6/10/2010, 08:36 AM
Another fall out of this is the talent they have there right now, including the incoming class, getting the heck out of there. For those of us wanting to see SUC get their just punishment, this is it.

We have already taken three name recruits from SoCal in OUr last class (Clay, Stills, and Jefferson), after this happens and we join, I wonder how much more of that will happen.

This is all just great stuff!

Karma is a beyotch, or as we Christians say "you reap what you sow."

lol @:

But hey, we've got Lane Kiffin!
Like Moses, to lead us out of the wilderness.

Here's a coach with years of experience running a college football team, just what we need in this our darkest hour. And thank God he wasn't around when the alleged violations took place, because that might not look too good to the NCAA. And luckily he didn't burn any bridges down in redneck world so there's no way anyone will want to dig up dirt on him and keep trying to pile it on. And on top of all that, since we have to be squeaky clean for a few years, thank God the first person anyone thinks of when they hear squeaky clean is Lane Kiffin.

When it rains, it pours.

NCAA Bylaws
13.1.1.3.3:Transfer from Institution Placed on Probation by Committee on Infractions. It is not necessary for an institution to obtain permission in writing to recruit a student-athlete at an institution that has been placed on probation with sanctions that preclude it from competing in postseason competition during the remaining seasons of the student-athlete’s eligibility. However, the student-athlete’s institution must be notified of the recruitment and may establish reasonable restrictions related to the contact
(e.g., no visits during class time), provided such restrictions do not preclude the opportunity for the studentathlete to discuss transfer possibilities with the other institution

This allows schools to recruit USC's JRs and SRs without USCs permission

14.8.2: The Legislative Council Subcommittee for Legislative Relief
may waive the one-year residence requirement for student-athletes under the following conditions or circumstances:
(c)On the recommendation of the Committee on Infractions, for a student-athlete who transfers to a member institution to continue the student-athlete’s opportunity for full participation in a sport because the studentathlete’s original institution was placed on probation by the NCAA with sanctions that would preclude the institution’s team in that sport from participating in postseason competition during all of the remaining seasons of the student-athlete’s eligibility

And this allows the COI to remove the one year wait penalty for transferring.

Theskipster
6/10/2010, 12:20 PM
Also, the PAC-10 has a specific rule that overrides the NCAA rule on transfers that forces all intraconference transfers to set out a year. The COI can't override this.

So there practically won't be any competition from PAC-10 schools for USC's JRs and SRs.

From ESPN:

USC has long been known for its lenient admission policy at football practices, which during Carroll's tenure was open to almost anybody, from movie stars to regular fans. No longer: The NCAA also prohibited all non-university personnel, except media and a few others, from attending practices and camps -- or even standing on the sidelines during games, a favorite pastime of Will Ferrell and other wealthy USC alumni.

Heh.

PrideTrombone
6/10/2010, 05:13 PM
Does that mean we won't have to have the obligatory sideline shot of Toby Keith for all of our games?

No, it just means we won't have to see Snoop Dogg and Will Ferrell at USC games. The ban is just for USC. :D
