Yes, the way to rank the academics at universities is by how well their athletic tutors do keeping the players eligible.

The <.5% of the student body that plays a revenue sport has a large impact on the overall academic strength.

OU is moderately selective undergraduate institution with decent test scores for incoming freshman. As a graduate/research institution, it's a total non-player. Unfortunately, the latter is what schools generally base their academic reputations on, unless they're liberal arts schools.
