France would give up before they even start a fight. The only ones I really get are S. Korea, Iraq, and Afghan.

Thank goodness you aren't working in the Pentagon.

it's cool, we can get anywhere in the world we need to be without stopping to refuel or get supplies

The france parts were a joke. The rest is legit.

And the troops in Lawton are there to protect us from an invasion from the Wichita Falls area.

I think the troops in Lawton are to protect the rest of the state from the people of Lawton :D

France does have trees along the main roads so our troops can stroll into Paris in the shade.

How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?

Dunno, it's never been done. BA-DA-BING!

Sobering to think of all those red-blooded Americans serving a long way from home, even though we're at "peace" with most places. I for one know one guy who would rather be home, but I'm glad that when duty calls, there are those willing to serve, even if they disagree with/don't understand the politics behind it. Keep 'em in your prayers, the pointy end of the sword is not a fun place to be.

I just don't get why we have troops in so many countries that we really don't need them in. We shouldn't have troops anywhere unless there's aggression against us IMO.

So parking our jets on Hugo's or Ahmadumbass's doorstep, even though they haven't declared aggression against us, just to keep them in check, is a total waste of money and time?

Put on the uniform and serve if you really feel that way. Otherwise, leave it to the professionals and please STFU and let us do our jobs!

Did you miss the part in School where they teach the stuff about America being a Super Power and why that happened?

If you don't STFU...I'm afraid SSC might start dropping strays...accidents happen all the time. Please don't **** him off anymore.

We became a super power after losing most of our battles in the revolutionary war then getting our *** kicked for most of the War of 1812. The only big battle we won in the later war was after the War ended. We became a power because of the economy. We bought up all the other countries debts and became the richest country. And we were making things cheap trading with other countries. Kinda like China is doing right now. The capitalism thing made us a power not the military.

I'm pretty sure all of our bases in Europe were for back in the day if Russia started marching across Europe we would have several locations to strike at them.

6974 Italy -
* Aviano Air Base, in the north-east of Italy, near Pordenone (HQ of the 31st Fighter Wing which conducts and supports air operations in Europe's southern region and to maintain munitions for the NATO and national authorities)
* Caserma Ederle, near Vicenza (northern Italy, in the Veneto region — HQ of the US Southern European Task Force and of the US 173d Airborne Brigade)
* Naval Air Station Sigonella, in Sicily (one of the most frequently used stops for U.S. airlifters bound from the continental United States to Southwest Asia and the Indian Ocean)
* Camp Darby. Located in the Province of Pisa, half way between Pisa and Livorno, it is allegedly the largest US base outside of US territory. A 1951 US-Italian agreement conceded to the Pentagon the transformation of thousands of acres of Tuscan woods in a secret military base. Camp Darby is named in honour of William O. Darby, founder of the US 1st Ranger Battalion, who died on the battle field in Italy in 1945 (see it:Camp Darby).

1147 Belgium -
* Chievres Air Base (mission: to facilitate command staff movement for the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, aka SACEUR).
* Kleine Brogel Air Base. This was a base of the US military. There are still nuclear warheads located at Kleine Brogel.

654 Portugal - The 65th Air Base Wing is the American unit stationed at Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal, and it is the largest U.S. military organization in the Azores. The wing provides base and en route support for Department of Defense, allied nations and other authorized aircraft in transit, including those from the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Colombia, Germany, Venezuela and Great Britain.

441 Netherlands - The Hague

I took out the ones that were pretty much no-brainers.
