Last night I came home to find my sheepdog had fell asleep for the last time in his bed...Officially our family's first pet as I bought him 2 weeks before my son was born

I remember this day mostly because that morning when I woke up and went to my almost 2 year old daughters bedroom I couldnt find her....I went to the back room where we had put boomers bed and she was laying next to him asleep...Always playful, the kids could wrestle around with him and was pretty much a 3rd child...watching the 3 of them grow together early was always entertaining to say the least.

This was my children's first encounter with a passing and was hard on both of them..What made it worse was that members of my daughter's coach pitch team had come for a sleepover so I had 5 and 6 year old girls melting down in my house that had never seen my dog...it was a long night for sure..

Anyway RIP buddy...We'll miss ya

Sorry, Step, it's the worst thing about owning/loving a dog...you usually outlive them. I bet Boomer had an awesome life, and hopefully soon, memories will bring laughter instead of sadness.

Oh man....

Not an easy day when this happens. I still miss Beavis my old Brittney Spaniel. We've had Buddy our Golden now for almost 3 years and I still miss and have fond memories of Beavis.

Chin up STEP.

Tough losing a beloved Family Member like that.

R.I.P. Boomer!

Our "Boomer" is getting pretty long in the tooth. His sister and litter mate Sooner went to the big kennel in the sky a month or two back. I'm just hoping he lays down like your Boomer did. That's a lot easier than having to take care of it yourself.

The kids will be fine.

I miss my 15 year old Bassett Hound Bo. Before him was 14 year old Bassett Hound Stretch. It's a tough deal to lose em.

I've never known a sheep dog, your dog looks very loveable.
