It's offseason! Have some fun!

Texas A&M:

The Aggies ended up losing this game, too :D

Don't mistake last year's Nebraska team for one of their better ones, despite nearly dethroning Texas - they had one of their most embarrassing home losses last year.

The worst part about that gimmick, other than that half-arsed video, was the fact that when they game out the power towels... it rained. You would expect a power towel to be a little bit absorbent, it being a towel and all. Alas, they dyed the towels purple and the colors ran everywhere.

Think people remembered their power towels and brought them to every game after that? :D

Yeah ours are real good compared to most. I remember the one you're talking about. When we were at the National Championship against Flordia they showed both of the schools and theirs looks like it was made for a high school. I don't know how schools can put out such pieces of crap to represent their team/university.

I found it funny that the OSU video had the Sam flipping toward the endzone play considering he advanced the ball like 10 yards or something and scored on the next play. It wasn't really a awesome hit, Sam did a lot of the flipping himself. Both schools figured it should go into the intro for different reasons, OU cause it was a good play, OSU cause they have to leach off the coolness of OU.

We are spoiled as fans, period. Texas A&M did the exact same theme that OU did for their intro... but alas, didn't have the multiple Heisman winners, multiple championships, etc etc, so it was like trying to pad out a research paper to the required length :D

They just are as determined as OU fans - OU fans will boo throughout an opposing team's fight song, even if our own band is playing it :D

OSU fans, regardless of how many show up to non-OU games, just aren't that passionate about football yet.

You're new here, so you'd also enjoy this:
Stunned Aggie throughout history farks (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24788&highlight=stunned+aggie)

It was around Les Miles last year at OSU... token smiley of lester:
:les:

...that OSU was starting to get a little bit arrogant, and highly-ranked by their standards. As you can see on the scoreboard, the Pokes were #16 at that time, while A&M was #21 (yes, A&M was once so-so under Fran-Fran).

After the Aggies and Aggys came out of the tunnel for the second half of play in Stilly, Poke fans got their hopes up that they would comeback and score and make it a competition again. Alas, A&M scored instead and then:
:stunned:

Some awesome sf.com posters caught this image, apparently DVR rewinded it a few times, never ending laughter. There was a lot of other weirdly dressed fans (like a spiderman full body paint Poke), but Stunned Aggie was better, because of the hat.

So, they posted a screen capture. Then, they found out who he was and actually did an interview with him (please post it if you have a link - is it still on the site somewhere?), they made t-shirts, they started fark threads (the throughout history one is among many others, from spring break to aggie's actual graduation, complete with different funny headware).

Stunned Aggie was also the first OSU resident fan here. Most stay on their OP.com board and don't dare set foot (NYPoke and OSUAggie, I think, are the only two exceptions to-date). He is an awesome guy despite his collegiate affiliation.

We saw a couple of whorn fans really running their mouths prior to 65-13. Thought nothing of it... it's OU/TX, right?

Well, that was until halftime. I, unlike my friends I was with... did not have a ticket that year, I was just hanging out at that AT&T booth thing watching the game unfold, and Texas folding at the same time.

Just before the 3rd quarter kickoff, we spotted a non-whorn gear-wearing whorn fan buying an OU shirt on the fairgrounds. At this point in time, there's not much fair traffic in the streets as the majority are focused on the game... well, except for Texas... down like three scores at the half. :D I thought to myself "that little shat is changing gear at freaking halftime of a bad game!"

"Looks good on ya" my friend told him just as he held it up to his torso as if to try it on. He was beet-red, and told my friend "**** off, this is for my friend!"

The making-fun-of was not intended to make fun of Katie, but rather, Colorado and the buffoon that was Gary Barnett. Sure, he won a little bit in his time there (most notably over * in 2001's Big 12 Championship game... nice Home of Whorn pic, btw), but the guy was a complete jackarse. Think Mangino and Leach were jackarses after the reasons they were let go from KU and Tech were released? Barnett had total disrespect for women concerning his football program, hosting sex parties and looking the other way while players raped Katie (allegedly, of course)

For this reason, I hope CU continues to suck for awhile. The marshmallow throwing fans don't care, anyways.

Exactly what I was thinking. I also saw a K-State video that had the highlight where Broyles gets hit high/low, spun around and flipped to the ground. But, he held on to the ball, AND it was a first down play. Funny how good plays for us are also good plays for our opponents. :D

sooo you have the proof that neither the national media nor the Football hating Boulder DA could come up with, but you want to convict Barnett for actions that sweet Katie wouldn't even press charges on(she never accused anyone, just did her part to taint everyone) for an incident that allegedly took place during the summer when coaches have limited contact at best with the players.

. . . those signs existed and looked really stupid...

I had this idea that the signs were a red herring, meant to drive opposing defensive coordinators crazy trying to figure out what plays were being signaled.

Hmmm... think it confused the OSU more than the opponents? :D

Decade of Dominance? "The 3-disc set includes more than 10 hours of programming..."? You've got to be kidding right?

Explanation and Funny Story:

Since 1991, I have fostered a growing hatred for K-State, so that now I hate them with nearly the same passion as I hate Texas. Living in Kansas will do that to you. From the gay purple colors to the redneck jackarses who drive around with that retarded logo stuck to their truck, to the idiots referring to themselves as EMAW...I hate KSU more than you could possibly imagine. Before 1991, I was indifferent, I even attended their 52-7 "thrashing" of New Mexico State (still makes me laugh), part of their first 3+ win season in 10 years.

For DECADES, the notion of a K-State FOOTBALL fan was ludicrous. There weren't any...even in Kansas. But after their miracle 7-4 season in which they conquered such powerhouses as Indiana State, Idaho State, and Northern Illinois, and including a squeaker at home vs. equally bad KU at home, you would have thought that they had been elite since the days of Princeton's dominance. The schedule was SO weak that even after a 7 win season, they STILL didn't qualify for a bowl game! Still, KSU logos popped up everywhere, and so did their annoying fans. Not enough to really HATE them, yet, but that would soon come.

After a 5-6 1992 season in which they only lost by 2 points at Norman, I suddenly had tons of KSU trash-talkers in my ear. Trash talking during a 5-6 season after a LOSS to OU? Who does that sound like? This was also during a 5-4-2 Gibbs season, during a time where we were feeling the effects of massive NCAA sanctions - no TV, scholly restrictions, etc. They were BRAGGING about a LOSS to THAT team.

In 1993, they win 21-7, and from then on I hated them and every stinking one of their idiotic fans. It wasn't so bad that they won, but it was how the fans reacted. I literally couldn't wear OU gear without hearing SOMETHING from a KSU fan. It only got worse as we went through the Drunky/Blake years. Worse, I couldn't turn on the TV, Radio, anything without being inundated with purple-colored sh*t. This is a fan-base that appeared out of nowhere and started dwarfing even KU in arrogance.

Then the trash-talk escalated to taking on Nebraska, a team that had beaten them like 60-something times in a row. I actually found myself cheering for Nebraska as they played KSU, partly out of respect for the fact that they are part of that club of traditionally elite programs like OU, and partly because I couldn't imagine the crap I'd have to endure if KSU actually beat NU.

The Big 12 forms, and KSU FINALLY beats NU in 1998 and is headed for a potential BCS championship match-up. I laughed my arse off for days when they lost to Texas A&M.

Now, the funny story. The year is 2000, OU is undefeated, ripped KSU earlier in the year (at least in the first half, before they let the foot off the gas). It's the Big 12 championship, and KSU fans are guaranteeing a win, all based on their 4th quarter run after OU was up 38-14. My uncle and I, both huge OU fans of course, travel to a KSU fan's house for the game. When we arrive, the KSU fans have set out 2 milk crates and placed 2 boxes of Kleenex, one on each crate, and marked the area with tape as the "OU cheering section". For 3 1/2 hours we sat on those crates, and watched as OU finished off an over-matched KSU team. As the game is drawing to a close, my uncle and I reach for our coats and we each pull out an orange from the inside pocket, and begin peeling front of them. Smiling from ear-to-ear, my uncle turns around and says, "Want one? We brought enough for everybody."

:D

But even since that time, KSU fans are the absolute WORST in self-delusion about their team. They try to convince everyone that they have "tradition" in football. They have a section called "Tradition" on their web site where they LIE, saying they won 11-games EVERY YEAR from 1997-2003 (they were 6-6 in 2001).

The funniest thing about KSU, however, is this "Decade of Dominance" DVD. Ten (10?!?!?!?) hours of programming about how they dominated from 1993 to 2002. Let's recount their "dominance" during this time:

0 conference titles
0 national titles
2 wins against Nebraska, their "rival"

Now that's just crushing dominance, right? Meanwhile, their primary "rival" against whom they compiled an impressive record of 2-8 during this stretch, won 3 NATIONAL championships and 5 conference championships.

It's a tough distinction to make, but KSU fans just MIGHT be more delusional than OSU or UT fans. And while you might think I'm the only person who thinks this way, I'm not. I've run across several fans of other teams in Kansas that confirm this phenomenon. This includes an LSU (LSU!) fan who has spent the last 15 years in Kansas. This same LSU fan acknowledges that his own fans are "crude", to be polite.

It's one thing to be proud of your team. It's quite another to be completely irreverent to their status within the history of the game and the status of programs like OU and NU. I've actually had multiple fans of KSU say with a straight face, "Well, OU was good in the past, but they won't last, and K-State will pick up where they left off." That's been said to me as recently as last year.

Kansas State has a splinter-in-your-butt stadium named after that guy that might have once been mentor to Stoops, but I'd rather think of him as a Steve Spurrier-mentored guy than a Bill Snyder-mentored guy. Steve and Bob are visor-coaches.

I have disliked them ever since the 2003 championship game. Hit Jason's knees again, why don't you?

Baj - as bad as that game was, they were WORSE about aiming for the knees in 2001. I think Hybl walked to the sideline a couple of times limping. They had a crapload of penalties that game, too. Even more irritating was watching Ell Roberson make our defense look stupid.

While it's obvious I'm not a fan of KSU, it's the fans I hate far more than the team. I don't like Bill Snyder, he's dirty, they always play the weakest schedules ever invented, but at least for a time they WERE a good team. Just not elite like their fans THINK they were/are.

Personally I think that Billy Snider Family Memorial Stadium of w/e it's called is the ugliest stadium I have been to in the Big 12. Probably the ugliest D-1 stadium I have seen in person. Haven't been to them all in the Big 12 but so far it definately takes the cake.

One of the funniest things I ever saw in my sports travels was the banners k-state hangs on their stadium -- to celebrate every bowl game they have played in, all 13 of them. ROFLMAO!!!!

Something funny from aTm (really, the jokes never end with their crazy corps)

http://www.mattwalters.com/web/texastech/images/rivalry/aggies/CorpsSabreSMU.jpg

Pictured here, a Corps member defending the football field with his corps-issued play sword against the evil SMU cheerleader during the SWC era.

More infamously, the Rice band decided to make fun of A&M and their crazy corps... and had to be snuck out so that those crazy aggies wouldn't kill them.

I think one of the dozen Reveilles just passed away, making them quite angry (see picture of chick with invisible doggie running around to tune 'oh where has my little dog gone?') However, nothing infuriated the Aggie faithful quite like losing at football, which they did to Rice that day in a last-minute drive. Whoopsies.
