Bitching about it doesn't change anything.

This is a day traders market, the volatility right now is ridiculous. Fundamentals are an after thought.

They should switch to trading corn options. A little more vol would do wonders for me at the moment.

This is a little bit like bitching about the price of a gallon of gas.Yeah, that trillions of dollars in equities, everyone's retirements, the economy in general, it's all like buying gasoline.

Might be one of the dumbest/clueless statements I've seen posted on this board.

The good news is it appears that the plans to debase the dollar and turn this here fruited plain into the next Wiemar German Republik is well under way....

Heh. Yeah. I didn't say that the stock market was like gasoline.

I said BITCHING about the stock market was like BITCHING about gasoline prices. What's dumb/clueless is getting your panties all in a wad on an internet messageboard about things you have no ****ing control over (and I dare say no clue how they work) I would spend my time a bit more productively if I were you.

But if it makes you happy, go ahead and bitch and grouch around then. THAT will certainly be the key to market stability.

I have found that getting drunk while watching global equity markets is a lot more fun. No, I don't have any of my retirement money in it. I just bought a farm in Thailand and Dean is gonna show up in 3,2,1 to call me a wanna be cowboy. Now, if only I had the cowboy bow legs.

Our markets are as artificial and unreliable as it gets.

Won't Happen. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_Group_on_Financial_Markets).

Timmy and Benny and our overlords in Goldman won't let it get that low again. Dear Leader is their meal ticket. The Fed will just keep on buying everything in sight, like they are starting to do again with our bonds.

At some point something is gonna give I think.

I'm not sure why this popped back up, but seriously: When's the last time the market numbers REALLY had anything to do with how the street level economy is doing anyway? The 70s? Way earlier?

OklahomaTuba

Boehner, our next speaker of the house, just announced a speech in which he will call on Obama to fire his entire economic team, as the "recovery summer has failed"

That would be a good start.

When's the last time the market numbers REALLY had anything to do with how the street level economy is doing anyway? Today would be the last time, as the bottom is dropping out of the housing industry before our very eyes, taking our economy with it once again.

July's sales fell by more than 27 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.83 million, the National Association of Realtors said Tuesday. It was the largest monthly drop on records dating back to 1968, and sharp declines were recorded in all regions of the country.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/24/AR2010082402563.html?hpid=topnews

I saw the housing sales news a bit earlier and my first thought was "Jesus hopscotching Christ, deja vu"! The point being is that yesterday, before this news, the economy sucked regardless of what the Dow numbers were. We're deep in the **** and have been for quite some time now. Being more or less moderate I can see that neither side seems to have a real answer since it's more about political points than actually solving problems, but someone needs to get on the ball quick or we're pretty much screwed.

The Stock market has no bearing on the real economy. But don't worry, it'll tank soon enough. My guess is this time next year we will all realize that the fundamentals aren't getting better and we will settle into our depression that we denied for two years. IMO, of course.

the bottom is dropping out of the housing markets because nobody is being paid a sustainable wage to be able to afford a 2000 dollar monthly mortgage, so no property is being bought.

on the other hand, I read a report a couple weeks ago that said, long term, real estate is going to be a great investment right now because the production of new homes has dropped below the estimated need for about 10 years from now.

It's just an opinion. My life is fine. Its the economy I'm worried about. I definitely am not rooting for a depression. The employment numbers are just horrible though and thats what I'm basing my opinions on. Of course, it might help if you weren't living in a city that was bankrupted trying to comply with a terrible ruling regarding a cleanup of the Cahaba and then had a crook of a mayor playing hide-the-pea with the municipal debt. :D

US stocks post best September since 1939 (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5ia1wABF3DOjdtjtSm3FsTi_90EHw?docId=CNG.73253 ccffd9665fd3d9deefa4f505723.c1)

Historically one of the slowest months of the year, September saw the Dow Jones index close 7.72 percent higher than the previous month, even though the US recovery remained slow.
The last time Wall Street saw a stronger September, when the Dow Jones soared 13.49 percent, was at the start of World War II, when traders anticipated a strong rise in demand for US manufactured goods and war materials.
