Fagfest 2010

Styx after The Grand Illusion = fail

Foreigner = fail right after the radio stations played their songs until I was forced to go from eight track to cassettes and turn off the radio.

:D

Have fun though...:D

No wiseass comments about the religious contingent of the band taking over Kansas years ago?

StoopTroup
5/14/2010, 11:17 AM
Not from me.

I do like Styx...Tommy Shaw is awesome IMO.

Kansas...they just did to many drugs to fast IMO and they swung ultra-religious to try and offset the debauchery more than likely. It wouldn't be the first time someone did that. The first two Kansas Albums are classics.

Early Kansas rules. Early Styx rules. Shaw's kind of a dumbass though who never quite seemed to understand the artistic side of what Styx was. He's good at the rock star side of it though.

Foreigner just sucks.

Technically it was a pretty brilliant concept album in the vein of 2112, but between Shaw not understanding a lick of the story and stage production and the nature of the video/hit single mentality that got so big at the time of the album all anyone remembers is how to say thanks in Japanese! lol

Lucky me then...I listen to full albums and not individual songs and being a prog-head I'm fairly accustomed to long concepts and so on.

I DO prefer the Grand Illusion era stuff though. I've never listened to any of that album without listening to the whole thing either though as it works better when they repeat certain thematic elements throughout the whole record, just like Kilroy and just like Paradise Theater.

I'm pretty much a big giant dork though, so my opinion is unusual.

How the hell am I supposed to remove the T-Tops from my car if it's raining? I would not be able to properly enjoy the show.

that flyer is hilarious, who puts songs underneath the band's name?

Wait wait wait...

"Point of know return" ???

SERIOUSLY? They let that get out past proofreading?

I mean, it's bad enough to leave the comma and "my" out of "Carry on, my wayward son" but for Pete's sake...

Crucifax Autumn
5/14/2010, 02:25 PM
except that the album actually IS spelled "know".

Ah, in that case the guys in Kansas (the band) are the morons responsible. Because "know return" doesn't make sense even in the context of the lyrics of the song. Not even if you try to be artsy and philosophical about it. They should have used the word "no", because that's what they mean.

That I agree with. I can't stand silly spelling in songs and band names. Or should I have said "band namez"?
