As the title says.... Anyone see Aaron Franklin's 200m in the TX state qualifying times?

21.81 - 200m

Pretty damn fast for a linebacker... keep in mind he's a 200lb guy! To put it into perspective, Brandon Williams ran a 22.09 Not Teddy Lehman fast, but pretty damn close!

Then I welcome this kid!

He would have been a high 4 star or 5 star if not for his injury to his knee that cost him an entire year of football. If he is got his speed back, he has a chance to be real good.

yeah... 200 lb linebacker? He spent a whole year rehabing and could only bulk up to 200 lbs?

I think he's closer to 210. After a year with Schmitty, he'll be fine. Anyhow, after seeing Jonathan Vilma play his entire career at 210 and lay folks out, weight just didn't seem THAT important.

Adron Tennel was a big-time track athlete too...

...just sayin. :D

After a year with Schmitty he'll be more bulked up but a couple of tenths slower. :(

Add the freshman fifteen and he's fine.

THIS ^^^^

Remember that Rocky played at 215 his freshman year! IDK what his weight was straight out of Jenks, but I bet it was around 205-210, which is where Franklin is.

Considering this kid will more than likely red-shirt considering our LB corp right now... the kid will be fine weight wise.

In fact, we have a number of track guys in this class: Franks, Stills, Haynes just to name a few. I think that Clay, Finch, and Jefferson are, as well, but I can't verify that.

He will be fine. You are starting to see teams go to these "hunter-killer" style LBs.

Most recruits who are a Div. 1 talent excel in track. They are superior athletes to the field and most of the time naturally succeed at it because of this and its also the reason they have the oppurtunity to play at the places they do.

Well, we all remember Alonzo Dotson's infamous 3-minute mile.

3-minute mile? I run competitively, and I don't know anybody who can run that fast.

We're not asking Franklin to catch passes... yet.

But how does this relate to "SEC" speed?

And Adron was usually open down the field....he just couldn't combine that track speed with catching a ball that hit him in the hands :D

Which is somewhat problematic for someone playing the receiver position. ;)
