The remains of Noah's Ark have been discovered 13,000 feet up a Turkish mountain -- according to a sensational claim by evangelical explorers.

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say wooden remains they have discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are the remains of Noah's Ark.

The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.

Ok, so religious arguments aside....

How are these boats getting 13,000 ft up on mountains (Turkey, Iran, etc.)?

I'm not implying anything, I'm just generally interested to know how.

And finding a gold plated wooden box artifact with 2 stone tablets inside would shake up "liberals" how exactly? What is the supernatural significance of finding such an archaeological object of antiquity?

Honestly, I don't know...Glacial movement? maybe possible, but unlikely.

A follow up question though: If the world was flooded to 13,000 ft, where did all the water go? Thats a lot of water. It had to go somewhere.

More likely, the black sea region experienced heavy flooding, and was perhaps at the time less connected to the mediterranian. 13,000 ft of flooding? I find that hard to believe...

That's 13,000 feet above sea level right? I have no idea what elevation the surrounding terrain is, but the Mt. Ararat is probably not 13,000 feet above that, it's 13,000 feet above say the Mediterranean Sea.

if there was a world-wide flood that raised the global water level, its pretty safe to assume that any water craft would come to rest at an altitude above what is present day sea level.

A large asteroid or comet, the kind that could kill a quarter of the world’s population, smashed into the Indian Ocean 4,800 years ago, producing a tsunami at least 600 feet high, about 13 times as big as the one that inundated Indonesia nearly two years ago. The wave carried the huge deposits of sediment to land. (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/14/science/14WAVE.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&ref=science)

600 feet is WAY less than 13,000.

Not saying it would reach that high at all, but a 600 foot wave would watch very far inland and pretty far up hill. Again, not 13,000 ft., but pretty far. I wonder what it would take to get it to 13k ft.....WAIT! I got it.

What kind of a ****ing idiot fails to capitalize the first letter - and a name at that - in a sentence but then adds a period at the end? Consistently. If you're going to be a retard most of the time why not be one all the time?

1. Do we know water got it up there? No.
2. Do we know it's a boat and not a building? No.
3. Do we know that maybe somebody just built something high up incase of a great flood to escape it? No.
4. Do we even know that this is the Ark that Noah built as described in the Bible? No.
5. Does this prove anything at all about the Bible? No.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.
