I'm anxious to see how big of a contract Sam signs.

Last year Stafford got 40 million I think. I'm not sure over how many years though. I think I heard someone mention 50 million on draft day but I'm not sure what the details are. Anyone heard any rumors?

I heard the 50 million reference also, and I think it was Charlie Casserly (sp?) from the NFL channel that said it would probably be in the 45 million range. Add in some endorsement deals and Sam shouldn't have much to worry about except opposing defensive players. ;)

Somewhere around 45 million is the number being tossed around by the St. Louis media.

I was thjnking that during the season, but the problem is that he should have thrown the ball away both times. He may not have had time on the BYU play, but he did on the Texas play. He was trying to make something out of nothing.

Gruden gave him a hard time about the play against Texas. He kept asking him why he didn't just throw it away. And I assume the Rams will run an offense that allows the QB to look at the defense instead of staring at the sideline for 30 seconds before the snap. That sure doesn't help a QB see what the defense is doing. Steve Young made that comment on draft night.

More importantly, Sam is going to get a $40-50 million contract. Nice job, kid, you deserve it.

Potential for a Neffel lockout is the only thing that I'd worry about, concerning Sammie's contract. It was Kevin Garnett's overinflated contract that sent the NBA into a lockout. A rookie contract with $50 mil in guaranteed money might do the same thing. I really hope not.

Surely you don't suggest the NFL isn't impressed with the Meerkat offense? ;)

Since there is no salary cap in 2010 for the NFL...or a hard floor...its anybody's guess.
