Here in Tulsa, I can buy a pasteboard box containing 24 12 oz. cans of "Bitburger," brewed in Germany, nach deutschen Reinheitsgebot. $18 US.

And not that 3.2 p1ss neither.

Who says you can't buy decent beer for less than a buck a can? 75 cents to be precise.

That is all.

It's good beer. And the krauts' fastidiosnious as applied to anything a person eats or drinks guarentees you aren't drinking recycled "brown water" like you do when you suck down a Corona, Dos X, Modelo or Pacifico. Which is a plus.:D

Thanks for making sure it will be a long time before I drink another Negra Modelo. :D

Good for you. That water they use for "dark" Modelo probably doesn't go thru as much filtering as regular Modelo.:D

Homey introduced me to Bitburger at the SF tailgates......awesome beer. Can't find it out here.

Bitburger is good; I prefer Warsteiner in the "German mass-market" category.

I roomed with a German exchange student for a semester in college. He turned me on to Bitburger. I turned him on to Olde English...

...yeah, he wins.

Why do you hate the brown water? Is it because it jumps the border unnoticed? ;)

It's been awhile since I had Bitburger. I'll look for that packaging/price. I've heard Bitburger called the "Budweiser of Germany" (which I take to mean mass market for the style - not Budweiser-like beer).

With warmer weather and summer coming up some German style lager might hit the spot. Negra Modelo is also a very good summer brew IMO. I don't care for the regular Modelo so much.

I hate brown water because every time I hear it, I think in the RV sense of the term. You know, brown water and gray water. Yuck.

In that case Lowenbrau must be their Miller Lite.

Why would you buy canned import beer?

Momma spends the extra $$ and buys all the imports (including Bitburger) in bottles. It makes a difference.

Plus drinking out of a bottle makes you look classier. :D

Other than Heineken and a couple of Mexican beers I don't recall seeing very many imports in cans. But the advantage would be it should be fresher than bottles. The Europeans insist on using those damn green bottles, which allows too much light in. By the time it gets here it's a skunkfest.

For example, I've had Pilsner Urquell a few times in my life. A couple of times out of the green bottles from the grocery store and it sucked. Once on tap at a resort in Scottsdale and it was one of the best beers I've ever had.

I like Pacific too, my second favorite Mexican beer. Bohemia is the best.

The aforementioned Negra Modelo is my favorite poopy water. Although, those two are better for a hot summer day.

I'm pretty sure the Bitburger is in clear bottles.

Doesn't really matter anyhow because I drink whiskey. Beer makes my *** fat.

Clear is even worse than green.

The clear bottle is the only problem with Newcastle, makes the flavor too inconsisent, otherwise it is outstanding.

I used to guzzle Newcastle from the tap. As you said, from the bottle you might some serious skunk juice.

Recently some good american ale has started coming out in cans. Caldera IPA, Sierra Nevada, and Big Sky are some I've noticed.

I asked the liquor store guy about the cans compromising the taste and he claimed the cans and processes are better than in the past. I don't know. But the canned Caldrea IPA was awesome and the cans are sure easier to tote around and quicker to cool.
