After months of recruiting, Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel picked up his first junior-college verbal commitment Wednesday in Connors State forward Chris Washington.

“Well i commited to OU and just waiting to sign hopefully friday,” Washington wrote on his Facebook page.

The 6-foot-7 Stringtown native was also considering Oral Roberts, Ball State, Wichita State, Western Kentucky and Murray State.

As a sophomore, Washington averaged 19.2 points and 12.9 rebounds a game and earned juco All-American honors.

Washington’s forte is rebounding, and he’ll look to team up with Andrew Fitzgerald on the post next season.

When Washington signs, the Sooners will have eight players on scholarship, with still five scholarships to give. Capel has said finding a point guard is at the top of his priority list.

Just watched the interview and CJ seems like an outstanding young man! I have no doubt in my mind he's going to work his tail off. These are the type of players OU needs to get. I believe he'll do very well. I wish CJ the best of luck on and off the court...

Yep gotta admit that made me a fan. Hope he keeps all the hard work up on the court and in the classroom.
