AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas tailback Vondrell McGee has been suspended for the first game of the 2010 season and maybe more after his arrest on a drunken-driving charge.

Texas coach Mack Brown said McGee will miss "at least the first game next season and will be working with the scout team until he is eligible to play."

McGee started four games and ran for 300 yards and two touchdowns in 2009 and was in the mix to earn the starting role again next season as a senior.

What would Stoops' punishment be? Certainly more than a 1 game suspension.

Hard to say what Stoops would do. Maybe a whole year? I dunno...

Depends on if it was a first time thing or not. Stoops can be lenient on the first time, but brings his shoe for the second.

I haven't looked at their schedule yet but doesn't that just mean he will miss their annual Div II-A opponent? Oh how terrible.

Nope, this year UT has stepped up the competition for their opening game: they've scheduled Southlake Carroll Highschool. Far better than their typical opening game opponents.
Probably got a better running game that UT, too.

It does hurt them, at least a little.

Remember, this year they really want to establish a running game, one that has been on the back and legs of the quarterback until last January. This slows that process down somewhat since Vondrell won't be working with the first team until his suspension is over.

Wow... they're really going to miss that.

He'd have that easy against whatever OOC high school they scheduled that he is "suspended" for.

If only what happened to OU's basketball team happened to UT's football team.

Great recruits... high expectations!

Season starts... ranking lost... loss loss loss... everyone transfers or declares pro... doom and gloom!

I can dream :D

Stoops has handled these types of things 'internally' before. It's probably not fair to say his punishment would be a lot different than Mack's.

True-true. Phil Loadholt and Brandon Walker both got similar punishments.

he got a DWI, not DUI

a lot worse in Texas. You can't get a DUI for alcohol if you are 21 or over. It's DWI if over 0.08, if under, your fine. In Texas

If it was their first, Stoops would likely suspend them 1 or 2 games...lets not act like OU players never get in trouble. Every college has dumb azzes

Please tell me that a video is going to surface and he pukes in the squad car.

Naaah, it has to be something new. Horn players are more creative than that.
