2001 Miami?
They were a little pro team there for one last season. Other schools picked up on what made all the pros go to Miami, such as pro days and not needing to attend class, so alas, Miami lost out to schools that put money into facilities and "stipends" and will likely never see this level of success ever again.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer program :D
(the downfall, NOT the title)

I'd maintain that 1990 GT was better than 1990 colorado at least.

And, if I'm not mistaken, he was an assistant coach on the '41 team.

He was, and 1936 was the Gophers' 3rd straight NC. That was a pretty good program.
