I love songs that have that certain summer evening mood, like driving late at night with the windows down and no one bugging you. Some come to mind.

Driver's Seat by Sniff and the Tears

One of These Mornings by Moby

Amarillo by Morning by George Strait

Summer by War

Any others?

King Crimson

Any others?Even the evenings in summer in these parts require the windows up...but maybe, "Bang on the Drum all day" Todd Rundgren

By the way, obvious classic of all time. Radar love by Golden Earring. This is also my all time favorite karaoke jam.

I like Radar Love, but does it have the mood for what I described? Sure, "Born to be Wild" is a great driving song, but not for the casual hot summer's eve out on I-40 at 2 am in July.

Think: MOOD.

For me it has the right mood.

I would have to add Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann and any number of REO Speedwagon and Journey songs.

My favorite driving music is a baseball game, any baseball game except for the New Orleans Zephyrs, whose play-by-play guy sounds like he is trying to cough up a pound of broken glass. Leroy- this is as contrarian as I could be just now, I'll try to do better later. ;) :D

Actually, the only helpful suggestion was the baseball game.

May I suggest that all of you refrain from ever working in a CD store?

"Yeah, uhhh, I've got a date with a young lady and I kinda want to put her in the mood to, you know, make out on the couch, and maybe something later, if you get my drift. I've got the candles... and I want to darken the room a little..."

"Dude, buy some Dragonforce, dude!!!!"

"Yeah, and... and... and Iron Maiden! They rock!!!"

Well, in that case, go with Cradle of Filth and Slayer. I'm sure your special lady will love it.

Is driving music the same as road trip music?

How about:

Deathwish by the Police
Soul music of just about any stripe: i.e. Green Onions by Booker T. and the MGs or I'm a Man by the Spencer Davis Group or....
Orange Blossom Special by so many different groups...

Leroy, GKeeper's first link is EXACTLY what you're looking for. It's perfect pr0n music. The high, out-of-tune keyboard just makes her climax that much faster. ;)

That reminds me, "Riviera Paradise" by Stevie Ray Vaughan should make this, ahem... driving list.
