anyone ever had this done? I've read some horror stories on the net about some, not sure how much I can trust.

Having been the knee surgery route some, I know that rehab is the key, and have no problem doing whatever is needed. Just curious how long i'll be down. Really want to just avoid it, but Dr. says if I wait that it WILL rupture, just a matter of when, and THAT will be a bigger deal with a longer recovery.

this is gonna succ.

Yeah, but how'd the back 9 go?

The best (well it started out that way anyhow) front 9 I ever shot was at Jimmy Austin several years back -when #18 used to be #9. It's a par-5 that doglegs sharply left across a creek.

I was -2 when I teed off on 9. I hit a huge drive, dead center of the fairway with about 170 yards and a perfect angle into the green. The pin was dead center. I pop-up a 7-iron to a downhill lie about 20 yards in front of the creek. No problem, it's a par-5 and I'm lying 2. I blade a sand wedge into the far bank of the creek and it rolls down into the water. In in 3, out in 4. I pop up a sand wedge and it goes directly into the water. In in 5, out in 6. I top another wedge and it feebly rolls into the water.l In in 7, out in 8. I hit a sand wedge over the green and across the cart path to the #10 tee box. Sitting 9. I hit the ball back over the green and into the creek. In in 10, out in 11. I manage to drop and hit a ball about 10 feet from the pin. I 3-putt from 10 ****ing feet for a 15 on the hole.

I said "**** the back 9" and I went home.

Anyhow, glad you're back big boy.

Men's league is 9-hole only, so I didn't have to endure the possibility of a collapse. :)

Reminds me when I gave up pool. About 15 years ago I lost a great deal of sight in one of my eyes and it destroyed my game. I was a strong player too (7 in the APA). I had a decision to make: Go on and get beat by every clown in town that I once owned or give it up completely. I chose the latter.

Sucks. It really sucks.

I remember the time I got three tears in my Peroneus brevis tendon in my ankle, which will required surgery, a week before a triathtlon.

I just ignored the pain and set a PR.

Hello, golf fans! For one month this summer I was a ball striking machine. Good weight transfer, solid contact, golf ball featured a penetrating ball flight. What's that? Why, it's a draw!

Something happened a week ago. I don't know what, but now I'm madder when I leave the range than when I arrive. This game cuts my soul to pieces because the one thing I desire, consistency, is the one thing I can never seem to achieve.

But I will continue the pursuit.

But I had the feeling, if but for a month, of how a properly struck golf shot should feel. Now I'm addicted to it. There was no finer feeling than hitting lasers from the far corner of the range and feeling the eyes of the people over in the shade watching my ball flight.

Now I'm just like any other hack with a GD fade.

This thread had so much potential and you actually gave me a hard on with the end of golf idea. I would much rather watch billiards or bowling on TV than golf. Golf is the worst sport ever in terms of environmental damage. You guys go out and shoot some deer or elk or coyotes or go do it in Scotland and get a life.

And I'd agree with you on the environmental stance if we had golf courses covering every square mile of the country. But we don't.

Eh my golf summer wasn't much to brag about. lots of rust there and I was shooting a lot like Eldrick Woods has been this week. On the other hand, I accomplished a few things.

I proved I was a better putter than my old man. And when I wasn't deciding to play it safe, or slice the hell out of the ball, my no knees having self could still outdrive his slimmer healthier good knees self.

what just happened.

You can't be serious. The landfills that have been turned into golf courses?

Let's do a quick comparison of golf vs the environment and NASCAR vs the environment. Get back to me on which is worse.

If you want to hate it because you're not good at it and don't enjoy the outside, then say it. But don't hide behind the 'environment'.
