This is the first time I remember this being done?

Yeah, this should be fun! We'll get to see a lot of young guys and every possession will be fun. Sure it won't be a great indicator of how good the team is, but when is it ever?

i saw that somewhere else the other day. that sounds pretty cool

Heh. Turning it into sandlot football. I like it.

 Damn it!

I'm not able to go this year. :(

An actual game... not some weird stats contest with flip-flopping personnel changes left-and-right.

I am looking forward to the game a lot now.

Now... will Stoops come up with his own scoring system like usual or will it just be a pickup game? :D

yermom
4/14/2010, 01:15 PM
i think they were ditching the goofy scoring

Collier11

hope so, no one understands it at all

badger

agree - it is hard enough to decide when to cheer.

Example - Rufus Alexander levels Joe Jon Finley by seemingly barely touching him. As Rufus stands tall over our fallen tight end, do we cheer or saw RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ;)

Yeah i know that was funny.

Even funnier if he's not picked first. :D

Little Jimmy Stevens.

Little Jimmy Stevens.

Kid seeking autographers from players at Nebraska hotel: Awww, all I got was Jimmy Stevens!

goingoneight
4/14/2010, 04:54 PM
I'd rather have had Stevens autograph that night than Tress Way's. 1/5, was it?

NormanPride
4/14/2010, 05:08 PM
Hey, he kept us from being blanked, I guess... :D

And I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefully the players get into it more because of this. It give them bragging rights if they win. :D I just hope it doesn't get TOO competitive - same team and all...

Glad to see Stoopsie got that text I sent him back in February. At least he could have responded or given me the credit. ;)

Pretty cool. I kinda think this means Stoops is fairly confident in the team this year too. I can't see him backing off what he considers tried and true if the guys aren't doing really well.

maybe after a tough year this is a reward for a well practiced spring

It will pretty interesting to see who the first kicker chosen will be.

That or he's trying for a different attitude this year.

NormanPride

I think he's just sick of dealing with weird scoring, rules, and when to play people. It's an exhibition for the fans anyway, so they might as well have fun with it.

KantoSooner

And maybe a bit of trying to gauge football players vs. gym rats and drill masters?

Guys who are competing for playing time are going to try hard. It might be a holistic way of trying to flush out 40 yard dash speed vs. 'football' speed.

Just a thought.

To answer my own question:
According to Rivals he last played RB for the Langston Lions.
He must have transferred or walked on.
Stoops mentioned him as being the MVP of the last scrimmage in the video posted on Soonersports.com of the seniors choosing their draft picks.

6-1, 210 LBs from Lawton.
I would think that Langston University is div. 2 so he should be able to play this year.
Went to Ansbach Highschool in Germany.
Interesting, indeed.
