Wonder how many Bigguns gonna happen this year?
The one you linked to was a 7.1. According to the USGS, there are on average, 17 events of magnitude 7.0-7.9 each year. So far, counting this one there have been 6 in 2010.

Yeah, the current rate is pretty much in line with historical averages. This dude (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/11/opinion/11musson.html?hp) has gotten the 'are earthquakes getting more frequent?' question a lot apparently.
