Since the surgery in early January, Clausen has prepared for the draft by lifting weights in California and throwing passes to a variety of receivers, including two former USC players, safety Taylor Mays and defensive end Everson Griffen.

His receivers were a DB and a DE. LOL

It looks to me like Claussen has a really big wind up when he throws. Not claiming to know more than the NFL scouts, but he doesn't have the classic quick release that you look for. Not nearly as bad as Tebow, but there are a lot of moving parts when he throws.

Plus, I just don't like the guy.

So I just read the ESPN Mag article on Claussen. Guess what the story was about?

It was about how great Jimmy's throwing mechanics are. Exactly the opposite of my opinion. Damnit! Supposedly, throwing a football is a very complex motion with a lot of moving parts, and Jimmy has mastered it.

The article said some NFL scouts think he gets a little too side-armed on some throws.

I guess the only throws I see him make are the slow, side-armed ones.

I thought the same thing when I saw those pro day highlights. THe ball looks like it takes FOREVER to get out of there, and it looks like he puts literally every ounce of muscle he has to get the ball out. his windup looked ginormous!

not that I really know anything about throwing mechanics, but to me, he looks like he is exerting alot of effort into his throws. Sam's throws look effortless.
