Weber's are always a good quality grill, so that's a good start. Looks like a good model to pick. Cranks out plenty of BTU's and the Thermometer is nice, but they aren't always the most accurate readings. Not a particularly big grill, so if you aren't grilling for large groups fairly often it should be fine. Like the storage comparment for the Propane Tank. Wish that top rack were a little bit bigger is the only thing though. Bottom grates are nice and wide so less chance of items falling through.

Overall looks like a good one though.

I bought the Genesis last summer. The porcelain bars and grill over stainless is worth the xtra 200. The grill is awesome and very consistent.*

*one time, for no explainable reason, it increased on its own to 620 degrees while on medium heat. It was just that one time though and it hasn't happened before or since.

We're lucky in that we have the natural gas line so we don't have to worry about the propane tanks and I said the same thing about the top rack being small.

Never, ever get a stainless steel grill. You will end up spending more time cleaning it than cooking on it.

I need another grill too. You ****ers have worn mine out at the tailgates. Cooking a couple hundred greasy burgers/sausages a couple times a year sure ****s up a grill.

I went out to grill some salmon the other night and it was making weird noises. I pull it apart, and all the burners were rotted out. The screws holding the burners down were rusted/rotted too, so I can't really just replace the burners. I need a big grill that ain't too expensive.

Build some, Dean. If a retard like me can build burners, I know you can. And they'll last YEARS as opposed to the pressed sh*t crap that comes in those grills.

3/4" black pipe, capped and tapped as needed for length. Bell couple to 1 1/2", piece of 3/4" or 1" flat stock for the venturi, and 1/4" black nipple and cap to build the jet. Tap the pipe length at intervals for the burner ports and tap the cap of the 1/4" for the jet. If memory serves, 1/8" for LPG and #40 for CNG. I can double check on that if you'd like. Damned if I remember exactly, but the difference is huge. Kinda like this.

Dean can't even use a chainsaw, you think he can do that? :D

gas grills?

We cook on gas. Inside.

Outside, it's hardwood charcoal. It tastes better.

So there.

Word on the charcoal. For all the fussiness about grilling and "being a man" I am amazed at the number of Hank Hills out here. That's a clean-burnin' hell I tellyawhat.

I'm guessing this is like a political or religious debate (i.e. nobody is getting their mind changed), but I agree re: gas v. charcoal. I've had both, and loved the convenience of gas, but I can't deny how much more me and my family enjoy the taste of hardwood charcoal. I have a Hasty Bake and love it. I think they are overpriced, but I got a great deal on a used one.

That said, if you like gas grills that one looks very nice. I wouldn't mind having a gas grill for the convenience (knocking out a few chicken breasts quickly), in addition to my Hasty Bake.

I of course prefer charcoal for improved flavor, but if you are using the grill mostly to prepare your dinner for that night of the week and don't necessarily have the time to wait for charcoal to get up to temperature, gas is very much ideal for quick cooking.

Now if you grill mostly for entertaining for barbeques on the weekend and whatnot, and you have more leisure time, then by all means charcoal is the way to go.

We have a WSM for smoking/charcoal goodness. Fact is it's just easier sometimes to turn on the gas grill to cook something like burgers, brats or chicken.

So, suck it.

Buy a "Big Green Egg" and never, ever, buy another grill. In fact, you can leave it to your kid when you die and he won't have to buy another either.

I don't care if the Big Green Egg can cure cancer, it looks stupid and I ain't buying one.

And again, I don't have the time or the inclination to go charcoal just to cook some burgers.

If you had a sack, you'd forge one from raw steel and case it in bricks you've hand fired.

I always knew you libs were all about appearances.

But seriously, I can be cooking burgers on my Egg almost as fast as you can on gas. Ambient temp to >650F in under 6 minutes. And its better for the environment to boot. A handful of lump charcoal to cook a mess of burgers versus all those burnt dinosaur farts you spew into the atmosphere with gas cookery. gah.

There is no way you go from charcoal to 650 in under six minutes.

Well I do that on weekends, but sometimes I have to work late during the week.
