Had never seen until last night.

The opening scene where the guy tries to shoo the fly on his face by blowing puffs of air is incredible. Hooked me immediately with the cinematography of the close-up, disheveled outlaw face of Jack Elam, occasionally bugging his eyes out in an attempt to get rid of the fly without having to lift his arms.

Priceless.

I can't believe it took me 50 years to see that one.

The closeups of the face and eyes was a Leone trademark, as was the amplified sound. Also, unlike most Western directors he liked rough, craggy facial features.

His use of opera for music was unique and set the trend.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is better, but Once Upon A Time in the West is a great movie, especially Jason Robards.
