What a big frickin baby, if you are gonna call these type of people out, call them out on both sides

Obama says Beck, Limbaugh fuel 'troublesome' political climate

In an interview with Harry Smith on CBS' "Early Show" Friday morning, President Obama called out Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh as purveyors of "vitriol" - creating a climate in which he's called a "socialist" and even a "Nazi."

Smith asked the president if he was "aware of the level of enmity that crosses the airwaves and that people have made part of their daily conversation about you." Obama replied, "When you've listened to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck it's pretty apparent." The rancor is "troublesome," he said, but he acknowledged it's also a recurring phenomenon.

"Keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of - this kind of vitriol comes out," he said. "It happens often when you've got an economy that is making people more anxious and people are feeling that there's a lot of change that needs to take place. But that's not the vast majority of Americans."

Walking with Smith on the grounds of the White House, the president said that he is "concerned about a political climate in which the other side is demonized" and that "everybody has a responsibility, Democrats or Republicans, to tone down some of this rhetoric." What's different about today, Obama suggested, is the way overheated rhetoric has moved into the mainstream.

"It used to be that somebody who said something crazy, they might be saying it to their next-door neighbor, or it might be on some, you know, late-night AM station at the very end of the radio dial."

Asked by Smith if the name-calling bothers him, Obama replied that all presidents develop a "pretty thick skin." Still, he added that he hopes that Americans will start to lose their taste for vitriol.

"I do think that there is a tone and tenor that needs to change, where we can disagree without being disagreeable or making wild accusations about the other side. And I think that's what most Americans would like to see, as well."

Liberals point and laugh at children with down syndrome...in unison. There is little to no use for a liberal at this date in history. Back in the '60s, they were undoubtedly useful, when they represented those who needed help. But now that poor people have cell phones and A/C, there's literally no useful benefit for a liberal to be alive.

 This is Obama talking? It's amazing that a lightning bolt from Heaven didn't nail him at that point.

Vitriol is Obama's weapon of choice.

Obama is a thin-skinned crybaby, for sure. If he had to weather the assault from the press that Bush did he'd be in a fetal position sobbing before long.

He has a decent three-point shot from the baseline tho. So there's that.

Here's an idea. One side should argue about how good "my guy" is and rail against what a piece of crap "the other guy" is. Then the other side should do the EXACT same thing. Defend their side while blindly hating the other side. And while all that is happening, no one should bother to sit back and take notice of just how powerful the lobbyists from the banking and financial trading industries are. That sounds like a good idea. That should make everything better.

From the article you posted:

Smith asked the president if he was "aware of the level of enmity that crosses the airwaves and that people have made part of their daily conversation about you." Obama replied, "When you've listened to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck it's pretty apparent."

So in a question where he was asked about "the level of enmity that crosses the airwaves and that people have made part of their daily conversation about" him, he mentioned Beck and Limbaugh. I assume you realize that Maddow and Olbermann aren't part of the group broadcasting high levels of enmity toward Obama.

I don't mind the demonizing. That's what politicians do. I hate the complaints about demonizing by those that demonize.

In other words, "Now that we crammed legislation down your throats that you don't want, I wish people would just quietly accept our socialist agenda."

We need to raise the rhetoric to fever pitch.

Ironic that the most partisan President in history, and one that sat in front of a racist pastor for 20+ years and befriended a domestic terrorist is calling for people to "tone it down".

And they should be called out for it. Right?

Well, yes.

But you said that you didn't have a problem with demonizing then stated that "That's what politicians do." I inferred that you meant you didn't have a problem with demonizing because that's what politicians do. But you DO have a problem with complaints about demonizing by those that demonize even though that's what politicians do.

If you're okay with calling them out when they complain about demonizing, why shouldn't it be okay to call them out when they demonize?
