I'm with yermom - the best cheap beer is Miller High Life. I have been off the "High Life" for about 10 years now. Used to be my main beer. Buttwiper never did it for me, even at age 16. Coors light is bad but better than Bud Light.

Thankfully I discovered the wonders of ale. There's no going back. Every once in awhile I get sentimental for the old beer but then can barely make myself drink it unless I've just mowed the lawn. I'm enjoying a Tiltsburg Brown Ale right now.

COOP? I'll try it if I see it. I'm all for Oklahoma starting to brew real beer. We have the NBA, why can't we brew good beer? We can. Choc is decent. Marshall in Tulsa has some promise (if they can tone down the carbonation in the IPA).

Bud and But Light are automatically disqualified because it is purely unnatural to include rice in your brewing ingredients.

Another flaw in this poll is the inclusion of one regular beer with the three lites. Makes it not quite apples to oranges but at least tangerines to oranges . . .

In the standard "Domestic" beers, you should've included Coors original, the Banquet Beer, I drink that over any of the choices in your poll. But obviously even the Banquet Beer wouldn't be my first choice. Just sayin on a poll of only domestics, why would you have Budweiser and Bud light, then Coors Light (yet no Coors original)? Forgive me for bitching :D

If i had to pick between those 4 I guess I'd go with Coors, but only as a last resort. "I've heard they added more Hopssss recently."

There are a couple of Flying Saucer's down in the DFW metroplex that sport a vast array of ales, lagers, bocks, pilsners, ciders, and even meade. It's just an all around wonderful place to try beers from all over.

 I've never really noticed.

I drink a lot of Shiner. A LOT of Shiner.

However, I will say it's very susceptible to not being stored correctly. If you shake it, leave it out in the sun, or don't drink it when it's as fresh as possible then it starts to taste a bit funky.

But a fresh ice cold Shiner is pretty much better than sex.

As I recall, rice was substituted in during WWII due to rationing (some beer documentary on the food network)

Rice is used if a brewer wants to add alcohol content without adding body, flavor, or color to the brew (and it's cheap). Miller uses corn (cheap), Corn add a little more color and flavor.

Bud is so light in taste and color it almost isn't there. It is not low in alcohol however (the non OKLA. version) due to the alcohol added by the rice.

They used to sell that at Safeway.

Shiner is the beer that I always have in the fridge, occasionally I will pick up some Newcastle but I really don't drink beer that much anymore. Down here it is pretty much priced the same as the Bud/Coors/Miller stuff at most places. If I go to a place like The Flying Saucer, I always try something new, I usually stay with amber/reds or Pale Ales. When traveling I always like to try out a local brew. I do not like Guinness, something about drinking used motor oil just doesn't seem right to me. The few dark beers that I like are Asahai or Sapporo Black, the European dark beers are too heavy for my liking, especially when there is so much other stuff out there to try.

Coors Light was always the Grahams/Incahoots coin beer night beer, I pretty much didn't drink it anywhere else if I had to pay for it.
