"Partnering with LSU just makes sense," said Art Vandalay, the President and CEO of Vandalay Industries said.

Well, just another reason not to watch LSU play. The shat is just too distracting! Watching Boise State gives me a headache.

That part went right over my head (had to Google it) on account of I don't watch Seinfeld.

But, knowing these LSU fans down here, this was a no-brainer April Fools thing soon as I saw it. Gotta remember about the SEC: They're aTm kinda obsessed with "tradition" and the like. They may fool with uniforms every few months (like everyone does these days) but they won't do anything so radical as change turf color.

A more plausible story would've been Ole Miss saying they'd decided to switch back to an all-white team as a "retro" sort of thing ;)

yeh i completely missed the seinfeld reference...don't watch it often enough to even sniff it....

I did call BS yesterday though...there is no way in hell a trainer worth his salt would say the turf was fast...lol that just screams bulshiite..

"It's now time to expand the traditions that surround our football program," LSU head coach Les Miles said. "LSU is going to take the lead in what we think will become the wave of the future and that's field turf in the colors of your school. The installation of the purple field turf will add to the excitement of a Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium and this team will enjoy the opportunity to play on what will be the finest surface in football."

If this story were true I'd bet Potato Aggie would be furious over a quote like that from Lester.

Surprised they also didn't get a quote from the Turfus and Son's doctor of turf technology, Dr. Martin Van Nostrum
