Opening April 15th in select theaters. Anyone heard about this? I came across the trailer on iTunes and checked it out. It's an endorsement for the flat/fair tax, from what I can tell.

Albert Einstein once wrote, “The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax.” The product of 95 years worth of additions, subtractions, deductions, and exclusions, it has become such a headache that many are calling for it to be drastically simplified or even removed all together. With a looming fiscal crisis on the horizon, April 15th seems more like a scene from a B-Horror horror movie than a day to contribute to the common good of the nation. Political favoritism, ineffective social programs, and economic manipulations all reveal the need for tax reform. But how can Americans decide the best way to change the income tax when few people even understand the code or the vast extent to which it truly affects the country?

“An Inconvenient Tax” explores the history of the income tax and brings to light the causes of its many complexities. The film follows the tax through wars, economic booms, and some of the most significant presidencies in U.S. history. To help crack the code, the film employs the country’s top economic experts, commentators, and political voices. Noam Chomsky, Steve Forbes, Joseph Thorndike, Mike Huckabee, Charles Rossotti, Dave M. Walker, Neal Boortz, Michael Graetz, Daniel Shaviro, Leonard Burman, and others discuss not only the problems America faces in the tax code, but also give valuable insights on how to move forward. Finally, the film gives a voice to the creators of several tax reform solutions who claim to have found a better way. In a time when many Americans are concerned about the future of the economy, rising deficits, and unfair tax treatment, “An Inconvenient Tax” provides a crucial, honest look at the income tax. For the first time ever, Americans can engage in the tax debate with confidence and perhaps discover a new way to tax.

Btw, I just used the GWB icon because I haven't seen it used in a while and it looked lonely.

Even I, with my liberal leanings, agree with the premise with this movie. The income tax code needs reform and simplification. Congress can start by getting all individual filers to file the equivalent of a 1040EZ.

I love the flat tax. Bring it on. Every year I spend thousands of dollars and way too many hours to try to bring my average tax rate down to what it would be near if a flat tax were instituted. The only people who should oppose this are IRS employees and accountants!

H&R block has an army of lobbyists to make sure a flat tax never happens. They've got a nice racket bilking poor people out of their money.

The progressive tax code must go. It allows the gov to further expand the dependent class and create their version of a middle class beholden to government. The producer and the recipient are supposed to have a symbiotic relationship, when in reality, that relationship is parasitic.

Which reminds me, I owe some of you an apology. Last year my income fell $30000. The result being, I am now a zero liabilty voter. My refund was near or equal to what I paid. So should I enjoy you guys picking up the tab for me? Should I consider myself lucky and let the goverment rob me of my desire to improve myself. I am eligible for the already overstressed WIC and medicaid benefits.
No thank you. I will bust my *** improving my situation and providing a comfortable life for my family. Or I'll just play Xbox and eat cheetos...on your dime...sorry.
