is like ELVIS....not because it's king but because it hasn't had many hits sicne the 60s. Sad but True. Actually not sad...more like rather pathetic.

1970- lost to Notre Dame but was lucky to still win the UPI

1977- lost to Notre Dame for the NC

1983- lost NC by losing to UGA in Cotton Bowl

1990- outside chance at title being #3 and losing by 43 to Miami in Cotton

2001- The legend of Christina Simms!

2004- big goose egg thanks to someone ;)

2005- needed a down OU and down XII to succeed

2006- Choke

2007- Choke

2008- Banners aren't just for championships- Asteriks rule!

2009- Karma injury and a down OU again

That's the truth...nothing can dispute what I have said.

So we can expect Texas football to die of a drug overdose while sitting on the toilet?

Let's see..

Texas beat virtually the same USC squad that RUTS'd us (the team formerly known as the greatest in the history of college football) the year before in the Orange Bowl.

They played for a National Championship this year.

They have scoreboard on us 4 out of the last 5.

You're right. They are absolutely irrelevant.

Of course, given our comparative failures since 2000, that makes us less than irrelevant... so go figure.

One point of contention here. In 1970, the UPI trophy was awarded at the end of the regular season. Texas was the only team to have won all its games to that point (Nebraska had a tie). Bowl games weren't as important back then as they are today. So you see, there was no luck involved at all. That's just how it was done back then. Revisionist history won't change that.

Carry on.

Offensively, yes. Their '04 & '05 defenses were nowhere even close to the same though. The '05 D had been gutted, & IIRC, they were starting a couple of walk-ons the night they played the 'horns.

You are correct, and thus it stands as a legitimate NC that was awarded at that time. Same thing happened to us in 1973.
