I don't even eat their that often. I would have to go to the mall up here. The closest one is in Penn Square, because the one on campus at OUHSC is closed by the time I get out of class. And I try to avoid mall crowds when I don't have to be there. On campus in Norman, I ate their once a week or so during lunch. 90% of the time I just got the nuggets and waffle fries. Every once in a while I would get the regular sandwich. Nothing else on the menu excited me. However, I ate their for breakfast in College Station after our last football game down their. Their chicken biscuits are awesome with honey on them.

Arby's employees seem to think the sammich is better if they cram 3/4 of the meat on one side and smash the bun all to hell. If they'd take more pride in their food, I'd eat it more. And yes...the sauce rocks.

Jersey Mike's trumps all other sub shops. It is more expensive though.

C&CDean
3/26/2010, 08:54 AM
1. Of the chains, Jersey Mike's is the best. By far.

2. The best thing at Arby's is not the sauce. It's ****ing ketchupy crap. The best thing at Arby's is a) jamoca shakes, and b) horsey sauce.

3. In n' Out is an average burger. Somewhere between Sonic and Braum's. I'd much rather have a double Whataburger with everything + jalapenos.

4. Subway serves bread sandwiches. They suck. You get a slice of meat that is thinner than jlew's dick, a wheelbarrow pile of lettuce, and enough bread to choke Linda Lovelace. Besides, their commercials are the gay. Jared and $5 dollar footlong...any...any...any... make me want to shoot my radio or TV.

5. Quiznos is average. A little better than Subway - but more expensive.

6. Taco Hell > Bueno > Mayo

There's a Lion's Choice at 4200 N Penn and one opening in Edmond and someplace they call Mid-City. I don't know what that means, but if you like Arby's, you owe it to yourself to try this place. Get cheese for your fries, or just dip them in the horseradish sauce. I've sworn off Arby's if there's an LC within driving distance.

soonerboomer93
3/26/2010, 10:24 AM
I'll eat subway, but I always get a 6" with double meat.

I can go just up the street to the little pizza place and get a better sandwich (better bread, better and more meat) for not much more then I pay at subway. It's a longer wait for it because they are not "fast food" but I can just call and order to go.

The only places I hit with regularity is Whataburger, and Freebird.

BTW, Freebird >>>>>>>>>>>> Chipotle. They actually put meat on the burrito. I skip the rice and end up with a good sized burrito.

Althought the sign is now up on the Chic-fil-a across the street, so that may get hit up more often.

sooner59
3/26/2010, 11:47 AM
Dean had a damn good analysis. And yes, Lions Choice is legit. Freebirds and Chipotle are similar in my book, just different styles. Qdoba is nice for a change of pace. I don't get their burritos, though, just tacos and quesadillas with chips and queso.

Crucifax Autumn
3/26/2010, 12:11 PM
When I say anything about sauce at Arby's I'm referring to the horsey sauce. That other **** stays in the bag.

The Reason In N Out is considered better than the other chains (and it is better than most) is this creative idea they have of not having frozen or precooked meat, making it WHEN you order it, and the even crazier concept of making their fries out of actual potatoes.

Chic-Fil-A sucks goat nuts.

Braums is my favorite fast food burger right now (bacon cheeseburger with nothin' but mustard and ketchup; don't know why cuz I used to prefer it with mayo + everything.) Culver's butterburger is my favorite outside of Oklahoma.

Chik-fil-A rocks. Even Jesus would be pissed if He came back and couldn't get some on Sunday.

Always hated Subway, mainly for the reasons Dean stated, I guess, except for the rare philly steak or whatever. Even that is pretty mediocre. I hated how they used to cut that little landing strip of bread off the top and cram everything into it.

Arby's is damn expensive, but plain (giant) RB sammiches with ****loads of horsey sauce are pretty awesome.

1. Quizznos >> Subway. I hate it that there's no Quizznos close enough to work to go at lunch.

2. Five Guys is pretty good. We don't have In N Out here so it's Five Guys for me.

3. Chic-fil-A rocks. We occasionally go tubing down the river and one friend always brings tons of Chic-fil-A in ziplock bags. They get just a little bit soggy from river water but they taste so good after a day of sun and beer. And I recognize that soggy sandwiches would be nasty in any other circumstances.

I can't couny how many times I've driven to Chic-fil-A on a Sunday forgettin it's closed.

4. The best thing about Arby's is the cheddar - but the sauce rocks too,

2. In-n-out sucks.

3. For breakfast, the most impressive breakfast sandwich I have seen is at Port-of-Subs. Monstrous. They come in three sizes and I had to order the medium. Not sure if they exist in OK though.

4. Surprised no one mentioned the big hamburgers they serve at Carl's Jr. They are as good as they look in the pics. Fries suck, though.

5. McD's fries are the best. Can we all agree?

6. For coffee, Dunkin' Donuts. It is better coffee than anything coming out of the foo-foo joints.

If you go to Subway its best to stick to a turkey or ham. Something basic. I get the southwest chipotle instead of mayo or mustard. As far as a fast chain, Quiznos is much better, but that is reflected in the price. Independent sammie places are always better.

Subway became relevant when you could opt for flatbread because you actually get a balance of bread and meat. Other than that, Subway was just a lot of bread with very little inside.

Jimmy John's is awesome even though none of their items are hot but they do offer the Unwich (without the bread) and that is very good.

Jersey Mike's is the ultimate win but the price is too high.

If I want a good burger fix that's considered fast food but made with care and dedication then I will go to Whataburger, get some fancy ketchup with the fries and a delicious all natural strawberry or apple pie.

In-N-Out is good but clearly overrated.

Chick-Fil-A is always a great choice seeing how that place is never slow. Their breakfast is amazing- chicken wraps and the CinnaClusters!!!

Why is Jersey Mike's too high? You can get a giant big kahuna (cheesesteak with onions, mushrooms, peppers) for $10. It's basically two full sandwiches. Momma and I get it and split it and we're both stuffed. That's $5 a sammy last time I checked, and Subway doesn't have anything that is even one-tenth as good as a big kahuna.

*sigh* anyone who thinks Jimmy John's is not only good but well priced, can get the exact same sammich from the deli coffin at Wal-Mart for $2.50....that is all.

Jersey Giant up here is the shiznit though, they slice the bread in front of you..and I mean slice, not cut with that little knife...slice the meat..you know, like how a deli does. And you get a damn good 18" sammich for $5.

Has anyone here mentioned yet that Blake Griffin appears mutiple times in Subway's new ad campaign? It's along with other athletes, so it's not a Blake Griffin ad per se, but he's totally there!

Here's one that he's only featured once in:
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/npDksBFa6sI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/npDksBFa6sI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

The other he made two appearances in. It's good to see him again :)

check and check...i have NEVER ordered anything other than the kahuna so i wouldnt have a clue as to what the rest of the sammiches taste like. ill tell ya when i get it, i can't finish the footlong and it takes a lot of food to maintain this level of sexy...

The original is also very good. The wife and I split the giant orignial occasionally but the Big Kahuna is where it is at.

5. McD's fries are the best. Can we all agree?

No we CANNOT! Too inconsistent. When they're good they're good. But usually they're a little undercooked, not salty enough sometimes, etc. Never know what you're gonna get anymore.

Agreed..Except for the sometimes good part. They taste like someone formed fry shapes from instant mashed potatoes and fried them in dirty grease.

i never get them undercooked, it's more like overcooked or just old

and maybe i'm getting old, but they usually have about 2x the salt they need

I rarely get fresh fries from Braums. Like close to never. For as little as I eat at Mc D's I get fresh fries more often than not.

another reason why In N Out>Braums & Mac Dees. Consistency.

That, and In N Out actually has employees that speak coherent english. In Ca. that is saying ALOT. Braums and Mickey dees, not so much, and in OK that is saying ALOT.

It may be a little more than $5...but Jimmy Johns is a lot better than Subway...

Much rather have quality over quantity.

Subways buffalo ck sandwich was pretty solid while they had it

I'm always bugging the owner of the Subway that I frequent to bring it back. I think that most everyone agrees that it's pretty dang good. Even the owner says "yeah it was very popular". I just don't understand why they won't carry it. Certain ones in Tulsa still do.

By FAR the best sub they've ever had. By far.

The Italian sandwich from Mr. Goodcents is good. Its all I have gotten, but it was always good. I still love Jersey Mike's though.

Subway is all about the individual store, the one close to my house is usually really good
