The dumbest crook of all time is a fellow Okie, a Tulsan who was on trial for purse snatching a few decades ago. He insisted on being his own counsel, and as we know, anyone who represents himself has a fool as a client. He cross-examined the victim and asked her "Did you get a good look at my face when I took your purse?" Needless to say, the judge appointed counsel but the crook was convicted anyway.

But I can understand that one. A person cross-examining a witness could get nervous and let his guard down. But the thieves that held up the bank not only stupidly made the call, they never even bothered to second-guess their wisdom when going to the bank. And there were two of them. You would think that in the time they were given, two people putting their heads together would have realized that the cops would be waiting for them.

In the wild, this would be a case of "thinning of the herd". They would lion lunch.
