I HATE THAT EFFN THING

For those of you not in this area there is this local truck accessory place called LWM in Norman.

I almost always have my radio on in my truck and on my pocket radio when on my motorcycle but really not paying a whole lot of attention to it half the time.

But because I am so hard of hearing my radio is up pretty high.

At the end of that dayum commercial the tag line is “The truck stops here”

But at the same time they are playing this LOUD sound effect of tires screeching to a stop.

And every time that catches me unprepared and my heart takes off running like Hussein Bolt and I wet myself trying to see who is about to run into me.

I'm not one of the older old timers, but I do pay attention and this should be funny.

screeching to a stop

That's the sound I'm expecting from this thread.

The guy that runs that place gave me a kidney once.

I think he bought it out of the back of a van over on Jenkins.

If that place would hire some decent talent, they wouldn't have to put out such crappy commercials for the past 12 years!

Well at the risk of being bained Dean, no not from around here but went to school in Tulsa from 1963 till 1970.

Attended several schools in Tulsa from Alice Roberson, Clinton JR High, Webster, and East Central.

Before which I was raised in a little town between Muskogee and Tulsa called Porter where I was raised on a farm an went to school there until 1963.

Then I went to Pittsburg County and gradutated HS down there in 1973

Then went and served in the US Navy after of which I came back to Tulsa and went to Spartan College then went to work here at Tinker in '81

Finished up my degree at Rose State, OBU, and OU. But lived in OKC since 81 and from my sons house you can hit Owen Stadium with a rock (yes I refuse to call it gaylord).

And I am about to turn 55 if that is a boy then Ok.

What does that have to do with the fact I don't like that commercial????

Am I not entitled to my own opinion?

Let's be clear here. Regardless of who it is running any commercial and all reasons to like/back a company, ALL commercials on radio, as well as TV, suck.

Oh, and :lwm:

I am aware that Boarder owns LWM but I re-read my thread several times and I am quite sure I never made any personal attacks, nor did even come close to slamming the company, it's folks, or it's products.

I have nothing against any of the above and have actally been there.

That doesn't change the fact I still hate that commerical for the reason stated. And that is IHMO and no I am not stupid I can actually make up my own mind.

I never liked the commercial either but it gets your attention which is not easy to do on radio. That's one of the things an effective ad does.

I'm not in the companies' market anyway - unless they tweak with Camry’s.

The commercial that makes me want to crawl out of my skin is the goody two shoes "Bobby Burbrige Lane" and her sanctimonious advice which
she "thanks me" for having listened to.

You know what is the worst commercial ever? The Knippelmeir commercial on the Sports Animal with the tone-deaf singing soprano lady. I'm sorry if she's somebody on here's wife or grandma. She sucks. If you know her and love her, please tell her to stop singing.

Acutally the worse one ever made is the lady that wants to buy your house no matter what the condition is, I don't know her name but I just wanna puke everytime she comes on.

Bobby Burbrige Lane too is bad

Yes, 1-800-2 Sell-Homes is THE worst, I should have clarified I meant the singing Knippelmeir lady is the worst RADIO commercial ever. Bobbie Burbridge Lane railing against pornoggerfy is also pretty bad.

I kind of remember a thread about this particular commercial awhile back (one of the worst of the worst):
