Former CIA Director Woolsey (95-96 under WJC)

Tulsa's Central High School grad.

You guys want me to ask him anything?

Sic will love this part, he's considered a classic neo-con, but hates the term and calls it "silly."

Ask him if he has one of those little cyanide capsule thingies.

Superb speaker. Here are the Cliffs Notes.

Woolsey recounted the Cold War years, and covert American successes versus the Soviets. He related CIA generally did better than KGB at about a 5:1 ratio. He attributed this to the fact that by 1955, no one in authority in the Soviet Union really believed that old Marxist saw that held "from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." They were mostly only concerned with keeping their dachas and other perks of being a party big-wig.

He further related by 1970, there were more dyed-in-the-wool socialists at UC-Berkeley and the University of Wisconsin-Madison than anywhere in the old USSR.
That's why so many Soviet big-wigs came over to our side, making intel gathering a cinch.

Fast forward to the global war on terror.

It's harder, because the Al-Q a-holes, and their Wahhabist fellow-travelers and financial supporters in Saudi are "true believers." Thus the intel gathering task is tougher since Wahhabists are far less likely to come over to our side than the old Soviets.

Moreover, the Wahhabi sect of Sunni Islam, that is causing most of the problems for us around the world, believe, with all their cold, medieval hearts, the following groups do not deserve to live: 1) Shiite Muslims; 2) apostates (e.g. Christians); 3) Jews; 4) homosexuals, and; 5) women of any faith who beleive they are entitled to equal rights with men.

OTOH, there are vast numbers of Muslims, as in Indonesia, who are wonderfully tolerant and who do not subscribe to the Wahhabist viewpoint.

He continued by stating we, in the West, need to wake-up and deal with the fact this cancer on one of the world's great religions, must be dealt with directly, and cut-off, like a tumor. There's no negotiating with them.

We should also be mindful that mosques built on American college campii, are paid-for by Saudis (Wahhabists)

Problem is though, Wahhabists run Saudi, which runs OPEC. Therefore, as long as we import oil for to sustain our way-of-life, we continue to bankroll the very cancer that hates us. We're paying those asses $1B a day. Think about that.

Oops, looks like I missed my cue yesterday: instead of gasoline or diesel, use clean, abundant, affordable, American natural gas. Get yourself a dedicated NGV like the Honda Civic GX (http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-gx/); or, see if your current vehicle has been certified for conversion (http://www.ngvamerica.org/pdfs/marketplace/MP.Analyses.NGVs-a.pdf) by the EPA. :hot:

They probably missed it because he started screaming and they put him on mute. ;)

The coal and oil lobbies have a lot to do with this. They're more organized, have been in operation longer and have deeper pockets.

eta - Also, people still think of natural gas as being in short supply. Back in the day, when the only nat gas coming out of the ground was that associated with oil production, supplies got low because oil production in the U.S. peaked. Because of price controls, it wasn't economically worthwhile to explore solely for gas unless you knew you had a huge producer underneath you.

Not that important for natural gas E/P (unless and until someone comes up with a way to get at all those methane hydrates) - Gulf coast offshore reserves (http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/ng/ng_enr_deep_s1_a.htm) are less than 6% of total reserves (http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/ng/ng_enr_dry_dcu_NUS_a.htm).
