In case you didn't notice (and if it was done right, you didn't) our server was upgraded in the wee hours this morning to something several orders of magnitude faster than what we've been running on for about five years. Hopefully, the performance increase will be noticeable and enjoyable for everyone.

Oh, and it appears the time on the server is off (a relic of the upgrade) so that'll be cleared up shortly.

I'm posting this for AlbqSooner, he is receiving the above error when trying to logon. Any ideas Phil?

Tell him to try clearing his cache and refreshing the page. If he tried to get in while the upgrade was going on, he may have that stuck in his cache.

Thanks, I'll pass that along to him.

FARK ALL YOU WEST COAST BASTARDS TRYING TO POST! LOL

Seriously...just kidding, but yeah....my prime posting hours were interupted without prior warning. I guess that's my fault for leaving the central time zone for 24-7 fun.

I figgered this out. The redirect in the index file wasn't working because the new server doesn't like shtml files. So, I renamed it to an html file, and now all is well. Now if you go to soonerfans.com directly, it brings you right where you should be.

I don't know about you Phil, but I got me a nice performance increase that had nothing to do with your new server

WTF, I tried logging in and got sucked into the server as a little black and white version of myself in neon-striped clothes.

If "server upgrade" is techie code for "you cannot post before 0700CDT", then I think it was a bad move. Just saying.

Same here. At least this time it was only down for about an hour instead of several.

Can we have a DOWN GRADE please ?

It's not the server - it's the backup schedule that's doing that, and I have spent several hours working on a solution. It will get fixed, I promise, as soon as I can make it work right.

Last night there was a hiccup - sql server went down. I had it restarted this morning. No problem. The backup issue has been resolved, with it being reduced to once a week instead of every night.

Server specs are:

Intel Pentium DualCore E5400 2.7 GHz 800 MHz FSB; 2 x 2MB Cache
2 GB DDR2 RAM
160 GB SATA
10/100 Intel Pro Ethernet Adapter
11Mbps
100Mbps Connection
8 IP Addresses Debian 5 x

great, now Veritas is going to hack it.

Phil
6/14/2010, 09:28 AM
OK. Believe it or not, as I just discovered a couple of days ago, the morons at the hosting company actually built us a new server for the upgrade a few months ago that was, as it turned out, exactly the same specs as the original server. They have now put us on the proper new server, and you can actually tell now that we are on a much faster machine.
