I often read about people justifying actions by saying that some member of some sect doesn't find it offensive, thus I shouldn't either.
For example, let's say a marine doesn't consider singing "home of the...SOONERS" at the end of a national anthem as disrespectful. Some may pipe in, "Well, if a marine doesn't find it offensive, then I don't either."
Or something like "my Indian friend doesn't think that mascot is offensive, so I don't either".
What if that marine or Indian are complete morans?
I know I didn't word this very well, but my English teacher said it was okay.
